This is what my insurrance would be (6 dif. bikes)

I'm 23 yrs old and have had 3 speeding tickets in the last 3 yrs.
Here are Progressive's rates:

Bandit 600:         $867/yr
Bandit 1200:      $1058/yr
Bandit 1200S:    $1823/yr
TL1000S:           $1823/yr
GSXR600:          $1799/yr
and for the hell of it:
Busa:                $3147/yr
GSXR 1k:          $3147/yr

I'm probably gonna opt for the Naked bandit 1200.  I checked it without any tickets and my cost would have been:  $587/yr

Guys, I've learned my lesson.  I'm really gonna chill on the speeding.  All but one ticket occured in my car or truck

Silly me I'd have bought a total rat till the tickets fell off my record so I can keep minimum coverage and save big...Hell I have bought whole bikes for less than 1/2 the year payments on any of those and I still am riding it (albeit very little) over 3 years later. Go and buy a KZ400/440 or a CM or CB honda or a XS yamaha or a old GS suzuki...It will embarrass you no end but will make sure you stay on the straight and narrow and personally I like the ones that look right at home with a huge chain and padlock...no need for theft insurance. BTW how stupid are the wrecking yard idiots...anyone that owns a 82 KZ440 or similar bike isn't into pride of ownershit, they own these cos its cheap on gas, parts, insurance and tires and chains...and no way one of those people is going to shell out anywhere near 1/10 of retail for anything...hell the whole bike is cheaper than what they want for 1-2 parts... Stoopid...

Wow that's pricey.  I second the small/cheap/ratty bike with liability only approach.  Next time make sure you go to traffic school and/or fight your tickets, they can cost hundreds or thousands in terms of future insurance.  

Quite a few people around here are paying $1-200/yr for liability only (though mostly with fewer tickets, but I have one on the record and am ~$150/yr) on the gs, are you really sure you need that big a bike and comprehensive/collision?

If you go with a cheap bike for 2 years you'd save enough to buy a really nice one outright.   You can get a decent salvage 600 and turn it into a streetfighter cheap and keep the liability insurance pretty darn low.

I have to ask the question....Can you really stay under the speed limit
with a Bandit 1200?

I have a hard enough time doing it on the GS.

Get the cheap bike and use the saved money for the track.

I say check out other insurance companies for cheaper rates.  I have found Progressive to be one of the most expensive companies out there.  Try McGraw.  They're good.
