Hello,

I haven't been on here recently but I am currently trying to sell my bike. I lowered my price pretty low for my bike and the guy is trying to find problems to drop the price. He says the valves haven't been adjusted just by listening to them, and I haven't done that, but it seems like he will lower the price by that. Just so he dosent try to rip me off, can people post how much it would cost to do general maintenance for a 2000 gs500e with 11k miles on it? Valve Adjustment, and anything else. The oil has been changed and tires are good and brakes are almost done.  If you can quote for each thing I would greatly appreciate it.

I tried to explain how LEDs are better than bulbs, but it seems like he will go back to all stock, so if someone is interested in led bulbs for the odo and speedometer, pm me and I can ask him if he would like to ship them to you. I also have a LED tail light, but if he is not interested in it, I might see if I can sell it.

Sounds like hes tryin to play with you on the price... Dont budge, if you do, only a bit.. Tell him you have a guy that is sendinga deposit via paypal and it will be his unless he makes a desicion right now... You will find a buyer willing to pay the right price. Dont let some tool who thinks he knows bikes knock you down

being a cheapskate myself, i try to find a deal. i don't belittle people or lie in the process though. that's just rude. give him a firm price that is FAIR TO YOU and let it be. niggling around a machine is just in poor taste.

we're assuming you're an honest person, and wouldn't hide a problem with the bike. :)

good luck with the sale.

Yeah, tell him if he doesn't think your price is fair, he can just not buy the bike then wait for someone else to come buy it.

talking to guy down the street the other day....
selling his 05? Z-71 for 19k
guy test drives it ans says i can get three others for 15k
he told him to go buy one that is a good deal....i still want 19k

couple days later he got 19k

then went to the dealer and bought an 08 z-71 instead of a 09....saved 8k there

want Iain's money to support my butt in kens shop

yup. set your price, and stay firm on it.  cheapskates are constantly around, and irritating to deal with, but you can hold out if you're not in a huge rush to sell and get what you're asking for it.
looking for a new vehicle again.

Thanks guys. But I do need to get rid of it, and I don't have all year to hold on and sell. If anyone knows what the avg price is to do a
valve adjustment
Synchronize carburetors

I would appreciate it.

There's only four valves so an adjustment is no more than $250 worth of labor/parts. I haven't done it myself so my number might be a little off but aside from getting to the valves, I can my adjust valves on a 1.6L V4 in mere minutes. So if he's looking to shave 1K or even $500 off the price for something as simple as a valve adjustment he's crazy. :nono: An unmentioned oil leak, bald tires, and a big chip in the paint justified my asking for $300 off the asking price of my bike. So, call up your local bike shop, tell them which services you need, and ask for a quote. You will get a much more accurate answer from a business than from a member. Hope this gives you a ballpark idea.
"Those who do not want to fight in this world of eternal struggle do not deserve to live."
"The great masses of the people will more easily fall victims to a big lie than to a small one."
"Democracy is two wolves and a sheep coming together to decide what's for dinner."
"You Vote, We'll Decide"

Well i checked it out at a store and then he was willing to meet at that price. I think its fair and I hope he likes the bike. I am going to miss it a lot. I felt a bit defensive when he took it on a ride yesterday.. I hope I can let him have it tomorrow... Thanks everyone for the help and if he does pick it up, I will give him this forum to check out. Thank you again.

Shuluke

PS. it was really close to the price you just quoted. I was told $280. So thanks again!
