Not if I wanted my stuff to be here when I get back.  She had the kids and a cleaning frenzy this morning.

At any rate, I got to go, so as soon as my slow *** blackberry gets the pics uploaded I'll get them on.  Beautiful day to ride, 75 degrees, clear skies with a little clouds, not too much traffic....rode down to the St. Marks Lighthouse.  First out of town road test for the bike, and she ran just fine.  Technically, its the Gulf of Mexico, but its attached to the ocean, so it'll have to do!

Pics in a few mins.

Glad you got the ocean one! I tried to go this morning wasn't gonna happen got home from work around one then day light savings time and the ride was at 0815. And  I really really wanted to go! I hate this heart problem .

Well, no way on earth I can get this one. I'm in Central Florida! Four hours minimum to Georgia, Alabama, or Mississippi.

I'm a girl and won't get in a bikini. That takes guts esp out on the net no way!

Mary

okay I am really losing it I know I posted on here a pic of the two different sizes of recon tank packs. And about the "new" mirrors on my bike. I am losing it.

here are tha tank pack pic again.

Eh, just pretend you're breaking down or something, you could probably get away with it for the minute or so it would take you to get a picture... Or you could get a friend to follow you and take the picture of you and the sign while you're in motion, that would be cool...

Theres not really anywheres to stop. If I time it right though, I can get just enough time to stop it, put it on the stand and run back a few meters and snap a pic before I get flattened by a larger vehicle.  Bonus points if I can get it with my bike on the white line between the left and middle lane.  booyah.

Canonball

i'm in the same boat as Mary, at least 4 hours till any border

JHoffy8

This doesnt work for ppl in FL.

Canonball

now that i think about it, i was in st. augustine last week which is pretty close.....but the GS was at home.....so yeah........

:(  Give a challenge that everyone can participate in :(  (Not talking about people who can't drive atm, due to a mc not working. Talking about other countries who does not have states :D)

utgunslinger13

If mine ran I'm only 3 hours from Mexico!  But then I would get kidnapped and be forced to be a drug mule....not a good time to goto border towns atm!

I'm in Florida, and it works for me :) I'm 15 minutes from Georgia!

Point well taken, though...I wasn't certain that one would fly when I proposed it, so I'll propose a new one then.

The issue is that, invariably, someone's going to get excluded from 80% of the challenges...noone complained about the ocean one, but a number of our members couldn't get that one either....

Hmmmm....lets see...... we've done cats, dogs, pets, snakes, oceans, off road, restaurants...

How about your GS at where you go to relax.  If you've got a particularly scenic place you go to ride, that would be good.  Try not to do the "here's my GS in my garage, I relax at home" one..

Doesn't >400 miles of Florida border Alabama and Georgia?  ;)

Ugh, if it wasn't raining I could go for this (the NJ/PA border is about an hour away)

philward

I don't think you should go changing challenges once they have been declared - especially simply on the grounds that some group of riders might be excluded.  I would have to ride for 4 hours to get a change of state sign (and even then it would technically be a territory!  ;)), but when I saw the challenge all I thought was "I'll just wait for the next one".

The only thing that matters when deciding on a challenge is to make sure that it is achievable and that someone is likely to do it.  As has been said before, all the truly interesting challenges are going to exclude someone - it's only the totally bland ones that will be accessible to everyone.  And personally, I enjoy seeing my fellow GS'ers doing things that I don't have the opportunity to do.  :thumb:

By changing mid-stride, you risk someone making the effort only to find that the rug has been pulled out from under their feet while they've been away from the computer getting the photo.

Yea, as Philward say - Don't change it :)  It's prolly gonna be fun, no doubt about it. Was just sad to see another one that I could not participate in :(  We don't have mountain dew in Denmark either.

But you are right, you cannot give everyone a chance to participate, but just make sure the majority can do it (Sad enough, I aint a part of the majority since I'm from Denmark :D)

My tuppence worth... (I do like this thread)...

States in USA = European / African countries = 'territories?' in Oz.

Doesn't make it any easier for many of us but at least it doesn't limit to one side of the Pond.  Sorry for anyone who rides their GS on Antartica!

Don't use both feet to test the depth of a river.

I was thinking on the relaxed bit. Does the hospital count? Cause I'm being forced to "relax" Stinking heart! So, who's going to the border?
