At least it is based on an actual measurable quantity, not just some random length like the foot or the meter

Perhaps you should look into the history of the metre. It began as 1/10 000 000th the distance from the North Pole to the equator, nothing random about that.

You should look into what the meter was actually based on. They tried to make it 1/10,000,000th of the distance from the north pole to the equator on the meridian going through Paris, but for some totally random reason, they chose to go do their surveying work in Peru. Peru, being super mountainous place with a lot of jungles, was a terrible place to go do the survey, so by the time they finished, they realized their error was huge so they just made the unit up. They basically realized their mistake and said "about this big" and picked a distance slightly longer than a yard. Whee, totally random again. They then made super precise rods to define a meter and distributed them everywhere. It wasn't until 1960 that they moved from the prototype bar system to a system based on the number of wavelengths of a specific frequency of light, but even that system was just a measurement of an existing prototype bar. The meter is based on a bad survey done in Peru between 1735 and 1737, what could be more random? Another fun fact, the original meter was expressed in French feet. The foot is basically the same thing done by the Greeks. They defined the foot as 1/360,000th of a degree of latitude at the equator. The modern foot works about to about 1/365,222th of the length of a degree of latitude at the equator. Not bad for a unit that's been around since antiquity.

It's currently "a pic of your bike in front of a fire truck with some firemen around with a dalmatian."

How about get your bike with a classic car you know 50's or 60's!  Mucho extra points if you get it with a '57 Bel-Aire my dream car!

Also my dream car! What about newer classic cars? There is a DeLorean sitting a couple of parking spots away from my bike at work right now... Does that count? Classic 80's....

Toogoofy317

Dude that would be Sweet! Make sure it has a flux capacitor!

Nice, do fire stations even have dalmatians any more???

If my grandpa still had his '57 I could ride over and get a pic with it. Sadly, it's long gone...

Down here in Florida it is against code to have an animal in the station. I think the Dalmation's lost their job in the economic down fall .Can we get the a stimulus package too!

Anyhow, I think I made this one fairly easy so get out there and get some pics I've won waaaaaay to many of these challanges. Actually, this challenge came from Josh08 cause I couldn't think of anything! LOL.

GET OUT THERE AND GET SOME PICS!

I think it got generalized to "your bike." You can still play, just post a cool picture and I'm sure everyone will be happy.

Toogoofy317

Yup, that's why I said "your bike" I want as many playing as possible! I did do a gs specific one but that was take a picture of someone else's gs!

Common people this is not hard at all I can ride a quarter of a mile right now to a car show. Most cities have them! I think my next one is going to be take a picture of your bike cause that seems like it may be simple enough!

Shame it has to be a car :D  My brother just bought an old 1967 Dnepr motorcycle  ^_^  So I could take a picture of that with my gs'er, if that were the contest!
