I was just wondering if all those fuel injector cleaners and gunk away products i see in the automotive aisle work for bikes? Feel free to name brand names and really just looking for something to help keep my carbs clean w/o me having to take them off and clean them the hard way  :)
Any help appreciated!

I typically run seafoam.  works pretty well to keep general gunk from building.
looking for a new vehicle again.

keep the tank full, don't use additives, and occasionally drain the float bowls. keeping it full keeps rust from forming on the walls from condensation.

i've seafoamed the truck and the bike, it seems to smooth out the idle for a little while. no hard evidence of anything positive appening though.

^ditto.  It's all snake oil...it's what the kooky back-of-the-wagon miracle syrup salesmen went to selling after we figured out our penises wouldn't get bigger if we drank some mineral oil with ginger root in it.

Be sure to check the fuel pump pressure while you're at it!   :thumb:

Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

You check it at the port next to the antifreeze filler cap.

If you look at most of those additives, the primary ingredient is some type of alcohol, usually ethanol or methanol. I pretty sure nobody want's more alcohol in thier fuel, especially since everybody is gonna be stuck with a mandatory 10% of it soon.

The Buddha

But ... but ... but ... the methanol liquifies the gunk and solubilises it, after which its activated and you then run it in your engine and it availabilises the cams when they get activated and it restores the counter balance to provide more of the essential oil lubrigous dynomater when it makes the compression.
I run it daily, I even braise my teeth with it in the morning.
Cool.

If you wanna clean out more of the engine don't forget to add some cleaner to the 710 cap.

It has an ability to get some water out of the fuel.
Water wont hurt the motor once it got hot, but getting it started with water in gas is trouble. This can eliminate some trouble there.

Cool all that clears things up a little bit. I'm guessing Seafoam is the preferred brand around here? I'll give it a try.

it's not really needed either. drain your carbs, drain your float bowls, bingo, the water / junk is all gone. (hopefully)

seafoam might clean a valve (some) but the results are very minimal, very temporary. 2 cents
