Hello all! I have a weird issue that might just be the nature of the beast..
I have an 05 GS500f with 13k miles on it. While I'm riding (double/single), on a flat road, up or down hill, in any gear (most noticeable in 2-4th I think), at around 5.5k and 5.7k RPM, the bike feels like it's jerking, as if I'm rolling the throttle back and forth. Now, it's very subtle and I have to actually concentrate to feel it, so I don't think it's anything major, but it's just something I'd like to figure out. It's one of those, if you don't know it's there, you won't notice it.
Any ideas?

I have the same issue. I misdiagnosed a different issue and removed the washer from under the needle from a nearly perfectly jetted bike.
You're possibly a hair lean, you're experiencing what is called a "lean surge" Steady throttle and it seems to rev up and lose revs on its own right - yea. Shim the needle a shade if that is your only issue.
If you're also experiencing long warm up on cold starts then you may want to try opening up the air screws. Or both.

Find all your symptoms, and diagnose it right and solve it. Don't be like me and "solve" crap that aint broke.

Cool.

Thank you for the reply!
If that's all it is, I really might just let it go. I don't feel comfortable messing with carbs. It does take quite some time to warm up, but I figured that was just part of the GS500's nature (a cold blooded beast), so I just accepted it. Maybe I'm on to something, if it gets worse?
I also run only 93 octane, to try to keep the carbs cleaner.

Needle is accessible via the top of the carbs, with them still on the bike.
But you have the spring and the O ring and stuff all need to be put back together right. So yea need to know taking off and putting back on.
Air screws are on the bottom, but only accessible after drilling out the caps. That has to be done with it off the bike first time, past that you can adjust them on the bike.
