stupid drain plug bolt

I was packing away my motorcycle for winter and going to do the oil change for it. I'd done the first oil change, and the dealer did another one as part of a maintenance service.  Now when I tried to do the oil change the stupid drain plug bolt was so goddamn tight and I stripped it  :mad:

Tried vice grips and cant seem to get it, maybe I'm doing it wrong. At this point I think I'm just going to leave the bike until spring and pay the dealer to do it   :cry:

they likely cross threaded the bolt when they changed your oil last time. don't pay them to fark it up again.

pull your pan and remove the bolt, chase the threads again, get a new larger bolt.

don't trust the stealership !

And when taking out the battery, the negative and positive leads screws were stripping, but I just used a wrench to get them off.

Did you strip the drain plug threads or just round off the head?  If rounded head clamp on the vice grips as tight as you can possibly get them and rap on the handle to break it loose.  Long vice grips are best and clamp them on so you'll be hitting them on the side opposite the locking lever to loosen the plug.

Best to use a 10mm wrench to loosen and tighten battery terminal bolts and just run them in and out with the phillips screwdriver.
