Hi everyone.... I am new here and new as an owner of a GS500.  I purchased a '05 last weekend. It has less than 4000 miles on the bike and less than 200 miles on the dealer rebuilt motor.  It has been some time since I rode a bike this small as I normally ride a 1986 Yamaha Venture.  What a differance......  I live on the west coast of Canada... this gives me the ability to ride year round... less the occational icey day here and there in the winter.

I am hoping to learn lots about this bike and what all you do to them and how you feel about your ride.

hope to chat with some of you also.

Welcome to the forums!

I gather you live on the island? I'm in Vancouver, although I've recently sold my GS and am now planning a move to Toronto. No more year-round riding for me :(

I am unsure exactly what the original owner did to the motor... what I do know is that he took it apart with a buddy while is was still   "under warrenty".  when they found it was beyound them to put it back together they took it to a local dealer and the dealer managed to get Suzuki to suply the parts to rebuild the motor.... one thing led to another...

I think he may have dumped it over... as there is slight damage to the headlight ring and speedo cluster and maybe left it running while it was over.
