Alright scratch the fuel filter one on wiki was $70+ and does anyone know if autozone even carries motorcycle parts? And how expensive are oil filters?

I got a FRAM oil filter at Advance Auto for about $4. They keep them in stock here. Watch out, the O ring that comes with it is feeble.....I had to get the real thing from the Suzuki dealer in the end.

just find a local motorcycle shop for the fuel filter they usually have a little cardboard display of them for less than $3 each.

ohgood

The oil filter i've used is a fram, CH6000F or something like that. Autozone or O'Rielys carries it. About $3.

(people love to bash fram, but i've used them for over 300,000 miles on an assortment of vehicles ;) )

Your fuel lines should be 5/16" . Any higher flow fuel  filter should be fine. You don't have a fuel pump to PUSH the fuel through, keep that in mind. ;)

welcome :)

Oil filters i have used fram from advanced or autozone(3-4 beans) and k&n from the local stealer(14-17 beans).  Both came with filter and seals.  I don't think it should be more than 20 unless parts are bloated in your particular area cause i have seen that before.  If you go to the parts store they will likely only have the filter listed for older GSs, as in up to 2000 i think.  In my area i had to switch from advanced to autozone because the local autozones stopped stocking the filter.  I would give you the number but i have tossed that one, the new GS has a spin on that everyone has in stock

Fram gets bashed regarding the construction of their spin on cartridge filters.  The end caps are typically paper board instead of metal and the pressure relief valves are typically pretty simple or crude.  BUT, most users of their priducts report no problems and if the paper board does hold up, then so what?  On this bike, naked cartridge type filter probably should be fitted with metal end caps -- is the Fram filter built on metal end caps?
