So we were setting up one of the mills to cut a few splines on a blower shaft, and the old fella says (with a thiiiiiiiiiiiick alabama accent):

"Ya, that ole boy that used to cut gears here had a problem one dayyyyyy. He dun cut up about 45 teeth on a 30 inch gear, and was allllmost done. He came in the office and said - ' Hey, that last tooth. Do ya'll want ONE FAT TOOTH or TWO SKINNY TEEETH ? ' "

I almost fell over when I heard this. Maybe it's old hat for anyone that cuts gears for a living, but I got a good laugh out of it.

:)

Oh this was so funny it made me cry ...

After the feds bailed out AIG, twice, to the tune of 140 billion, 85 billion of which wasn;t included in the 700 Billion approved by congress, AIG leveraged their way into short sales betting the market will drop, a lot. 10 billion worth was leveraged into the shorting. All of which went worthless. In addition to the 140 billion, they lost a further 10 billion in 3 weeks.

Best of all, if they had anticipated the fed will continue bailing out crappy businesses ... much like AIG, they could have seen the market wasn't going to collapse. Plain as day ... however you see, that kinda common sense ... man that usually doesn't live at the top of the descision making chain.

You know, when you find yourself in a hole ... stop digging.
Cool.

Last year, Milacron posted a photo of a 36 - odd foot Rockford gear shaper on PM.  In the photo, which was staged there was a huge herringbone gear on the machine.  There were a half-dozen or so guys standing around the machine.

One guy wearing a white shirt and tie was pointing off in some direction to another guy.  "That way to the toilets" one guy joked.

Another two "management types" were holding up a set of papers between them, with big, becoming smiles.  Another guy joked "Humm...  Something ain't right here..."

The last guy in the photo was the "machinist".  He had on the cleanest blue overalls you've ever seen, not a mark on his lid or a sticker in sight either.  He was angled facing towards the two management types holding the funny papers while standing at the controls.   Another guy joked "Uhh..  Boys...  Dooo ya'll want one fat tooth or two skinny teeth?"

:)
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

one of my old oil field buddies came by and shared this joke.

There's a lady walking through a swamp, and she hears a voice. well, she looks around and finally looks down and there's a frog sitting in front of her. the frog pipes up again and tells her "i'm not really a frog. i'm an enchanted texas oil man, and if you kiss me on the lips i turn back into the texas oilman!" well, she picks the frog up and starts slipping him into her purse. the frog sez "wait a second. didn't you hear me, if you kiss me on the lips i'll turn back into a texas oilman!!!" the woman replies "hell, a talking frog's worth a whole lot more than a texas oilman" :icon_rolleyes:

He probably did...  It's a pretty common joke for a pretty common problem.  hehehe.

All it takes is being one hole off on the index plate...  Usually happens on the third or fourth one, just when you're letting your guard down.

For all of our being slammed to the wall each and every day we come to work and dealing with f%$ked up schedules and unbelievable planning, yet being forced to comply with corporate "visions and values" and keeping promises that others make for us and "get credit", we got a turkey breast...............maybe
