I set out to get my insurance today, and when I gave my vin to the insurance co, my 04gs500f came back as an 04gs500.  I know it's not a regular gs500 because I've been pulling parts off it for weeks.  Still, it cut my rate by about 20%.  Anyone else have this experience?  My title basically is just wrong.

Uhh, I think that is some crazy insurance company thing... The gs500f was the only bike sold in the US, the e model was overseas only as far as I know...

I told them that, and that i know it's an F because I took off the fairings, carbs, oil cooler - with my own hands - not two days earlier.  she didn't care.

I noticed the same thing when I insured mine.  As long as you gave them the correct VIN# you should be ok.

same story here, my insurance co. didn't list a gs500f at all and my VIN came back gs500.  I wouldn't worry about it as long as the VIN matches your bike.

yeah, I never noticed that myself but mine doesn't say that either! Does it help or hurt us. I mean if there is an accident will they cover the fairings or say they are aftermarket?!?!

as long as you told them, you are fine.  It is thier error.  Call customer service and check with them again, but with these bikes they care more about the engine size than anything else.  I just wrote a GS500F and it did the same here called underwriting and they said dont worry about it, its normal.  But then thats just my company.

Oh by the way, ya I write insurance in michigan :D  Let me know if you have any questions.  I know michigan law, but some of it will be different if you are out of state, but maybe I can help!

Nah, they don't know that the 'F' means fairing, or anything else about them (unless they know something about bikes, like darb does)
