the age old question......what handlebars r best? i currently have stock handlebars on my gs500E. i want to upgrade. i dont want to fork out the dough for cllip-ons. i want to give my gs a sportier look and have a little more aggressive posture. i also need to be able to go on 2 hour rides with some amount of comfort, im a young college student and the aggressive streetbike posture doesnt bother me too much. wich set of cheap bars is the best; clubman, dragbars, or superbike bars????

Superbike bars are very similar to stock. Maybe a hair wider, maybe a hair lower. but too close to call.

Clubman's hit various things, some of them pretty hard. The upper triple matter of fact itself gets in the way.

Drag bars - well they hit stuff too, but not that bad. They are not too uncomfortable and yea they are cheap mainly cos they can use very thin walled tubing or even rolled and welded tubing. Slight bends you can use thin tubing. Welding or deeper bends will make thin tubing unuseable but you can make drag bars out of 065 wall or even thinner.

The 2 welds I make are my fave. They dont fit 01+ without hitting stuff.
4 welds will clear everything on the 01 and 04+. Working on making them ... but yea that's what I think.

Cool.

Chef GS500f 06

I went with clipon's on mine. I wanted the more agressive style and position, plus i wanted to lower the triple. Its been dropped like 4 times and thank God for the clipons because they havent broken yet. Chef
