So after awhile you just feel like the helpless noob that is trying to upgrade his or her bike. but if you do not ask questions you will never know.

for a 2001 GS500E, is there a digital replacement for the tachometer and speedometer...i saw a video of what i thought was a guy on a gs500 and he had a digital setup for the digital tach and speed.

any websites would be helpful for any upgrade or aftermarket stuff to to my bike into a gnarley beast hahahahaha.

check out trail tech vapor or acewell gauges for what your looking for.  Never used either myself but have heard them talked about on here before.

been thinking about using my gps as a speedo. the tachometer is kinda, well, pointless. i can tell if my idle is high, and since i haven't needed to adjust it in 13 months or so...

Looks cool but, at $400, the Koso is bit poop.

$400!!!!! How much is the Vapor?  Isn't there more than one model as well?  Does it matter which one you buy for the GS?

Thanks,

Nick

My setup seen above was $100 shipped off eBay.  I don't think there is a 100% compatible GS500 piece, but you can call trailtech and tell them what you're doing and they'll tell you more.  Basically, just make sure you get one for an air-cooled bike (unless you plan to plumb in a sensor for oil temp which actually sounds like a good idea).

Makenzie- awesome! how did you mount that? Do you have any pictures?

WOW, this is added to my "TO DO LIST"!

How long/How hard was it to wire up?  What about the mounting, did it come with a bracket or did you make your own?

Thanks,

Nick

IT comes with a little bracket for 7/8" bars...it's a bit ghetto but it does work.

As far as wiring all you need to do is wire the main power supply into your dash light power supply, and then run the cable for your speedo.  It's pretty straight forward...longest part of the installation was removing my old dash and such.

Well I ended up buying one off eBay, you might be hearing from me once it comes in the mail!
