Avoid corrosion in headlight?

Hi

My low beam on GS500 with TCP/Five Star was getting worse and worse. Almost like a candlelight at last. So I took everything a part to take a look at the headlight system. Highbeam was fine. Low beam is totally corroded. So looks like i found my problem.

How does one avoid this happening to a new lighthouse? You are not able to take the lighthouse apart for cleaning. Only entrance is from the back through the low and high beam holes. Think it has been glued together.

Nevermind. Guess that I can always buy more...

Use dielectric grease on the terminals (spark plug grease). You can pick up a tube at your local auto parts store.

How does one avoid this happening to a new lighthouse?

Could be down to a number of things but favourite is pressure washing............This is just one of the nasty side effects. Those lamp assemblies will keep rain out but they wont keep a jet of water at 100 plus Bar out.

Thanks guys. I will try the grease thing.
I think the previous owner did pretty much everything he could to sabotage his own vehicle. Good that I could help take it off his hands.

Btw. I plan to install Sylvania Nightbreakers in the new house. That should make travel at night possible with ease.

Just for other owners of TCP equipped bike:

Low Beam - H1
High Beam - H3

And yes you need to remove pretty much everything to get in there.
