Catching up/Observations... WINTER SUCKS

I've been away from the board for a while now, it would seem.   I suppose this is only normal during the winter months.  I haven't been on my bike since November, and I miss it immensely!  This will no doubt be the longest winter I've dealt with in some time!  :bs:  (Oh well, perhaps it'll give me some time to work on dieting--or as I'll call it, "power to weight ratio.")   Having recently done some more serious winterizing to the GS, I've taken this evening to finally get caught up on all that I've missed and/or likely would have cared about to begin with in board discussion, and I've reached several conclusions.

1.  WINTER SUCKS
2.  We miss too many really cool bikes in the states.  I'd love to have a nice Goose 350!!  What a slick bike!  Sounds great and looks really fun in YouTube videos...
3.  I make an incredibly KICKASS rum and coke--granted, it helps to have 32oz. mugs and a bottle of Bacardi 8 on hand!!!  :woohoo:

...and for what it's worth (and to stir any controversy I might)...

4.  This great nation may have slipped (or rather continued slipping) on W's watch, but I'm afraid BHO will be it's FALL!  I can't help but feel that liberal agendas slipping unchecked through congress can't be good for this country.  BUT, that's just one man's opinion.

Hope all has gone reasonably well in my absence.  I've noticed that some have dealt with struggles I care not to--wrecked bikes, broken bikes, STOLEN bikes, ever-present carb issues, etc--and I offer my condolences, and wish you all the best!  :thumb:

Winter does suck  :flipoff:  I'm in the youngstown area and we've been getting straight up hammered lately between snow and -27F windchills.  How's it been down there?

That rum and coke souds good...maybe I need to go shopping today  :icon_mrgreen:

We've gotten consistent snow, but nothing like the lake-effect stuff you'll have in Youngstown!   Other than the consistent couple inches every few days, which for some reason road crews can't seem to keep up with, the worst we've had was this past week.  Got several inches of snow on Monday night, never got that all cleared on Tuesday morning, then got several more inches Tuesday evening followed by several hours of rain later that night (Made quite the ice-skating opportunity!!!  ...I don't skate.).  Then, on Wednesday it continued to snow all day.  Friday was supposed to be a "dusting", but we managed to get like another 3 inches before the sun came out to assist the road crews.  They're calling for more ice Sunday night, and I've heard some say that Monday could bring the biggest snow we've seen in years, but I've yet to see a forecast confirm that, not that I trust forecasters anyway! :dunno_white:

There are lots of good rums out there.  Choose wisely!  :thumb:
Personally, I like to use lots of ice and keep the rum in the FREEZER!   :D

Captain Morgans or even Captain Morgans Tattoo is pretty much my standard, but sometimes when I want something a little less sweet, I opt for the Bacardi 8, Pyrat, or even Pussers.  I find that with my 32oz. mugs, if I fill it 2/3 - 3/4 with ice, dump in my rum using the "glug, glug" method so that it comes about 1/3 of the way up the mug, then dump in a can of (classic) coke, it comes within an inch or less of the top of the mug.  With a frosty mug and freezer-stored rum, I find that it dilutes pretty slowly, but still mellows a bit over the course of a half hour or so.  I generally only get 5 mugfulls out of a fifth.   :D
