offer: Free speedo, tach and housing

I like the junkyard idea and I saw a few people running with it so I would clean some more stuff out of my garage in an effort to get this going. I believe this is the cheapest forum I've ever been a member on and can't believe some of the stuff people try to sell here. Come on guys and girls, if you want a dollar plus shipping for something, can't you just give it away and help out a fellow rider?

Anyway I have a gs500 speedo and mechanical tach in their original housing. The speedo has 24 miles on it! I have no idea if they work but they have no damage. I got them from a salvage company. They weren't sure what bike that these came off of and had them sitting on a shelf so I got them for next to nothing. I'm not using them and I'm sure there's someone out there who needs them. You will need to splice one small connector (dash light) from your old housing. I cut it off to use on my current setup. You will also need to transfer one of the rubber gaskets off of your old one (that goes between the speedo and the mount) since one is dried up pretty bad. Other than and a few scratches on the housing (not the gauges) that they're in good shape. Hell, they have 24 miles!

My only rule is that you have to NEED this and it must be a REAL NEED. If your speedo jumps around or your tach doesn't read accurately, welcome to the club. Most of them do that Some cable maintainance or Bike Bandit can help you fix that. But...If you crashed and busted these parts and aren't riding because you're still trying to buy all the replacements, than you can have these for free...as long as you can give us a good reason as to why you should get them. If your story tugs at the heart strings than I'll even pay shipping too.

I could use it.. Does it have the metal suround as well? If not thats OK...

I bought a project GS (1990) The gauge bucket has a MASSIVe hole in the bottom, its cracked and broken and will not hold the gauges w/o duct tape. The tach and speedo have been cut open by the PO for?

I duno... They are covered in silicone and misc other attempts to seal them by the PO.. All they do is fog up inside and you cant see them... The glass is scratched (they look to have been in one good crash...

don't you already have a nice speedo and tach on your 1995 gs? I was hoping for a crash story, but....That list of stuff is quite impressive and would be a great way to get the junkyard rolling. Just saying if you dont need the tach i would like it b/c my bike is a project as well and it didnt come with any gauges already managed to find a speedo and busted up housing but this would be the last part i need to complete the project...

or if the other guy wonts to send me his tach as long as it works

need a cable though as well (prob check bikebandit for that i guess)...

hey loki, any news on that turn signal bracket...because I have a brand new never mounted tach cable from bike bandit in the garage that's all yours if you have a turn signal bracket that's all mine! I bought it before I found an electronic tach. It's crazy how this is working out isn't it? Oh, and you forgot to vote.

Lol idk tach cables no good w/o tach but the turn signal brackets are yours regardless i'll try and get them out monday

ok, since noone voted I'm going to take some initiative here.

how about

Loki. Since you were the one of the first people to offer up free stuff your kindness should get rewarded. You get the tach and tach cable. In return you have to give me the turn signal brackets. We'll cover each other's shipping.

Scottpa. Since you have so many items to offer other membrs you get the housing and speedo and the good foam rubber surround. These are all in very good conditon. All you would have to do is transfer over your some of your old parts and you'd have a whole gauge set. In return you have to promise to give all of that stuff to whoever NEEDS it.

Does that all sound fair? Both of you have to agree!

If this falls through, I'd gladly take the speedo/tach. I'm about to order a trail tech vapor ... I put my bike into a canyon last fall and I'm rebuilding it currently. I'm definitely in need of this! Either way, nice work on being rad and giving parts away to help fellow GS members. Awesome.

If you need something else check Bike Bandit or take it off your other bike! Keep in mind I don't even have a speedo (track bike) and now you have 2.

Screw this crap, I was wrong. You try to help people out and they just want more and more. Now I'm mad. I'll ship these two things but after today everything else goes on ebay. Now I see why buddah is always crabby.

I do have an like new 01 + tach... and I plan to dontate it to this cause... Im not trying to make anyting or do anything shady.

I overreacted (wouldn't be the first time).

I figured eventually someone would get greedy and screw this whole thing up. I thought that was what was happining and I got quite upset.

I WAS WRONG.

I have really enjoyed giving (rather than selling) these things (this, gloves, mirrors, more to come). I belong to a few hayabusa forums as well and they will give you the shirt off their back if you need it. My intention, even though I'm new here, to get that to go on here because we're all gs riders. Obviously with over 3000 posts you've been here a while and i would imagine feel the same way.

Anyway, thank you for clearing this up. Keep your eyes peeled for more free stuff to come! Oh, and I can't believe that there are middle finger smiley faces!
