topping off the fluids

Hey experts, I have a pretty silly newbie question:  It's time to top off my brake fluid in the front brakes... the manual tells you when and what to add, but not HOW to add it  :lol:   .  Is it as simple as removing the two srews on top of the box on the handlebar and pouring in the fluid?

Yep,

Just make sure the top is level with the ground or sea level respectivly.  And, don't fill it to the very top. Leave room for the rubber gasket to go back in.  Or you'll be cleaning up the fluid that squirts out.

It's always a good idea to clean the outside of the master cylinder before you open it.

Yes you can top it off that way, but consider changing the fluid entirely.  As brake fluid picks up water from the air it gets more spongy and a good flushing and bleeding helps keep them feeling and performing well.  Also a tip: put a rag around the fluid resevoir on your handlebar and over the front fender if you have it on the side stand.  Spilt brake fluid will melt plastic and can corrode all sorts of things (its pretty caustic).
