I might be wrong but aren't the left and right cases stamped as a pair and need to be replaced by the pair?

The left & right side covers are different than the cases, which are upper and lower. The cases are to be used as a pair.

Do you happen to know if the first-gen are interchangeable with the second-gen?  Bikebandit lists different part numbers for '92 and '05, but the diagrams look identical.

The bike had one of the threaded holes for the signal generator cover broken off when I got it - it held the tinfoil stock cover on OK, but I want all three mounting bolts for the nifty billiet one I got. :p

They should be the same, except color.

The only other difference is that the 04+ have only 1 signal generator pickup. Since it was mounted to the signal generator plate, the mounts should all still be there. A pic would clarify.
