When I just roll my bike around the garage I get a clicking type sound from the chain. This mean the chain is old and needs to be replaced? Or just normal noise?

The chain right now is the stock chain with 8k miles on it and is lubed with chain wax about 200miles ago.

Could be a bunch of things - check the adjustment first - it could be dragging on the frame etc - that would give a click-click, or it could be normal chain noise.  8000 miles is not a lot of miles on an o-ring chain that has been treated right.  If it was not properly cared for it could be worn out.

It looked decent when I bought it at 2k, and I've kept a good 600-1000mile chain wax lube schedule on it. I just adjusted it when I did the rear tire change and its in spec and everything is straight from the rear sprocket to the front.

It's pretty easy to check chain slack every other time you lube the chain, or about every 1000 miles, which is pretty easy to remember if you watch your odometer and look for the triple 000.
