Ok so I got up for a ride while the sun was rising. here is one pic from it.

finally put the correct bar ends on and some LED's . I replaced almost every bolt on the bike with SS socket head , except the header bolts which I always buy new carbon socket heads for.
I also put four coats of Rutlands  stove polish on the exhaust and it did wonders! so much better... I just got the bike back last week and a full tune was done to the bike. They tore down the carbs and cleaned them and rebuilt them, with a new choke cable and spark plugs, and so on. so its like a new bike to me now :)

ok what it used to look like

all taken today with changes

did you take the exhaust off to apply the stove polish or were you able to apply it with the exhaust still on the bike?

I took the exhaust off, just because I have done it so many times it was easier to do it that way . I hung it from wire on my porch and applied 4 coats polishing each coat before the next.  I can take the exhaust off in about a minute or two and put it back on in about 4-5 mins so its not too bad.  I would suggest taking it off if you want it even all over.

Your bike looks really good, good job on the exhaust  :thumb:

Nice pictures too, I especially like the pictures by the old brick warehouses, just watch out for those light poles popping up in the background,  behind the bike when your composing your shots.

that looks like it must be somewhere near the old Tredegar Cannon Factory.  Or is it the Tredegar Iron Works?  Anyhoo my brother lives up on Church Hill.
Attack but have a back up plan

yes some of the pics are right beside tredgar iron works one of the few standing building from pre civil war era considering we burnt the city down rather than let them yanks have it. the others are just a bit past church hill in the fulton hill area.

Know whats funny,  I took the same ride today but much later (300-400).  I will say, your GS is prettier then mine.  Since the chances of having the best looking GS in Richmond are off the table, I'll have to have the loudest.   :thumb:

Well done friend.  Maybe one of these nice richmond days we can get some pix of the two side by side.

No where near the quality of your pix since mine were taken with my piece of Sh** cell phone.   >:(

PS  Yes, if you look close enough, there is black duct tape on my seat!

you know how long its taken me to get this thing at least to this point lol. I bought the bike in 2003 well traded for it , dude didnt have 2000$ to pay for the car I was selling so he gave me his bike and 1000$  anyways all my friends used to call my bike ROAD WARRIOR lol , it was beat up looking but ran great! I layed it down in 2006 in carytown and beat it up even more so I ordered a tank and rear sides from CA :). in the past two months I have spent over a grand on the bike *shakes head*   but when you see it in person you will see all the flaws. once I get my 73 kawasaki running so I have another bike to ride I want to completely tear the GS down and restore it 100% from the frame up.  I spent 37$ in SS bolts the other day. the next thing I want for the bike is the ignition advancer . lets get together this week maybe or this weekend. I leave for texas next tuesday

by the way dont make me take the packing out of my exhaust ;)

I heard that almost all train conductors will kill someone at some point during their careers and that the company has a psychologist on staff to help them.

I heard this from a friend that is usually full of  :bs: but it sounds plausible, any of that sound true to you being that you work for CSX?

Definitely a beaut!

And I LOVE those graphics on that year!!! It reminds me a little of the old Honda Hurricane :). I like the rear blinker placement too! Unique!

respite

I wish i had a bike when i lived in richmond. Only road the bicycle. I use to live at broad and 1st years ago, churchhill for a bit, and spent several years on 14th street between main and cary. Moved out west three years ago.
