In my other post i noted that the boss from acumen had contacted me and informed me how to fit my indicators so it actually does reduce power usage and so they dont all come on together or what not, so firstly i bought this and fitted it in place of my original indicator relay, i then bought 2 6amp 50v diodes and linked them in as per this wiring diagram i created using the info given from acumen and paint. (gotta love paint lol) I hope this helps everyone.

Well, since you did the diagram I'll just post up the pic. Boy I am lazy!

Hope this helps some!

thanks mary thats what i will be doing, problem is i have ocd so unfortunately i wish i could just twist the wires together like that but my head wont let me so ill either need to use butt connectors or solder them :(

platinum_black

well i received my diodes today and my word was it an easy job, the hardest bit was holding the wire and the diode together whilst also holding the soldering iron and the solder lol but the fitting was a doddle. :D

Yeah, I did get lazy I just ended up using electrical tape and doing them up nice. When I did it I was on Prednisone well my hands shook so much I felt like a 90 y/o trying to do brain surgery! Burn't my self twice so I said dammit and did it the less painful way. Everything else is done with butt connectors would have done it with the diode just not much space.

So, is it one diode to each of the two wires of the turn signal lamp?

There are newer threads on replacing indicators with LEDS.

Here is what I posted:
You need 2 and here's the circuit to do it

As you do it, it will look line this: (I used LEDs for the indicators. You can still use your existing incandescent bulbs)

And when re-installed:

I just did this. My suggestion is do it behind the fairing. on the right side there is a connector. Near the header. There's more wire to work with and less stress on the wires. I will try to get some pictures.

Educate me guys. What is the reason or need for doing this?

The Indicator is a bi-polar system such that the dash light earths both ways depending on whether your indicating left or right.  As a result a mono polarity LED lamp does not work both ways.  You can get bipolar T10s but they do not fit in the T5 space unfortunately.  The diodes are to ensure that you only get the positive feed from the indicator wire to the lamp base, then of course you need to earth the other side.

As for why do it?  LEDs are brighter, last longer and for me the whole conversion cost was cheaper than replacing the single blown T5 bulb as only dealerships stocked the bulb in the wattage I needed.

THX. I did mine tonight also and they work great
