Ok i am in need of some serious help :dunno_white: i was attempting to do the duel head light mod and every thing was going good until i have some clips on the lights trying to figure out witch wire would do what and the clips touched the light went out and now i have no power what so ever on the bike i have looked at the fuse and pulled it out and put another one in but still nothing the one i put in was a 15 not a 20 so that might be my problem i will be able to get the 20 amp fuse in tomorrow.  If it does not work what else should i look at thanks for all the help

another possibility is to check your wiring, trace it all the way back as far as possible as you may find that you have burnt out a section of the wiring. was something i was warned to what out for when fitting twins.

how long were the clips touching? was it a split second or a couple seconds?

Did you replace the actual fuse or the spare? It has happened before... The spare fuse is the one that's easier to see...

To change the fuse, you have to disconnect the main power connector.  (At least, on my '96 you do)

The spare fuse is on the outside of the protective boot.  You wouldn't be the first to "change the spare fuse", if that's what you did.   :icon_mrgreen:
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

Hahaha... that's actually quite comical, no lie. But yeah, next time be sure to disconnect the + terminal before attempting ANY electrical mod... even something as simple as a bulb change. Cuz stupid crap is abound.

15A or 20A, it doesnt matter. A dead short to ground like you caused will blow either just as quickly  :D. and its unlikely anything else has been damaged by the surge.

Put a 20A back in, the system sees close to 15A in normal operation when all the lights etc are on and the battery is being charged from the reg/rect`, A 15A fuse is too low and might blow for no reason.

I got it fixed thanks guys i just did not have the plug pushed all the way in  stupid i know but it was late,  next problem the diode i am using is a zener but it is getting way to hot so do i need to get a bigger diode and try again?  also does any one have pic of how you hid all of the wiring that was nested behind the light?  Thanks for all the help i will post pictures up as soon as i get it all done.

Glad you got it fixed.  But why are you using a zener diode?  Or any diode?  Maybe I missed something.

In any case, you should not use a zener in place of a "regular" diode.
