Installing new bars, question on controls...

I just got new bars for my bike, but they don't have the hole drilled in the tops of them for the hand controls to lock to on either side...

Can I simply trim the tabs off the plastic, or do I have to drill new holes in the new bars? Either way it doesn't matter... but I just don't know if they NEED to lock with the tab, or if the throttle side will spin under hard throttle usage...

Let me know, cuz I wanna install these ASAP.

The person before me trimmed the tabs and when I bought the bike I hated how the throttle side would spin when I hit the starter or went WOT.  Even the clutch side would move occationally when I bumped the turn signals wrong.  I couldn't stand it and had to fix it.   I would drill the bars.  I've done it several times on tubes for clipons and it's really easy, just takes a minute to measure.

Ok good, that's exactly what I was thinking... Looks like I gotta go fire up the drill press and tape up the new bars so they don't get all scratched to shaZam!. :)... THanks a lot!!!

I wish I had a drill press.  Oh man, you have no excuse not to drill! :D :D :D
