My GS has been bogging down and randomly regaining power and going back and forth like that (sometimes stalling completely) recently. It feels a lot like I am running out of gas, but I'm not.  Any ideas as to what is going on? My dad in all his infinite wisdom overfilled it with oil  :thumb: (YAY!), and a little was on the air filter but not too much. Is that my problem? and suggestions or possibilities would be appreciated.

Too much oil is just as bad as too little oil. Get a turkey baster and perhaps some vinyl tubing and get your oil to the right level. If you're still having problems, start suspecting the petcock. The petcocks on these bikes are notorious for failing and leaving your bike starved for gas...

oil level was fixed.  turns out it was carb troubles, fixed it this morning. Took a while

Congrats Tristan.  Glad you're up and running.  FYI.. next time you have problems, don't tell the old man right away.  Ask us first!  :thumb:
