Paint schemes? Opinions?

Im thinking about what paint scheme to go with over the winter. Im gonna totally redo the bike..if i decide to keep it... and im really wracking my brain to come up with something unique, modern, clean, and tasteful.. yet somewhat badass. :x

I was thinking red frame, with black tank and plastics, or black frame with red tank and plastics (red wheels maybe?). I think i want a nice glossy frame. Or maybe even chrome? I know it would be heavy though. Toss out some ideas if you will.. id love to see some photoshops of what ive been thinking too, if anyone has the knack and the time. :thumb:

Thanks!

That would look like crap.  Don't make me come up there and slap some sense into you.  ;)

what? :o  Maybe your not seeing what im seeing.

Ive been inspired by lots of streetfighter pics and also the R-1 paint scheme. Red and black with red flames.. etc.. but i think since the frame is a visible part of the body work, and since its good looking for the most part, i could highlight, instead of delete it. EVERYONE paints it or powdercoats it silver...

Seriously, if someone photochops it.. maybe ill change my mind, but i think it could look good.

Anything but chrome.

I like the idea of black paint with red frame.  Just no flames.  You are trying to be different here.  No need to do what everyone else does with "custom" bikes.  Chrome and flames.

NONO.. i was just saying that i was "inspired"... not out to copy.  :thumb:

I was also thinking of painting the front part of the frame the same color as the motor.. and then the rest of the frame an accented color.. because IMO the front part of the frame is hideous. Thats why the SV looks so much nicer in the front.. because the engine is the stresser.

Red and Black is too ordinary and "Black Widowish".   :P What you need is a neutral frame... like black or silver and metallic painted body work. I think one of the best colors out there is Sunburst Orange, like what's found on a 2002 Goldwing.  Also the new Black/Gold color scheme on the 2004 Buells absolutely rocks!

Just my 2 cents. Good luck with whatever you decide.  :thumb:

Rashad, I don't know how much cost is a factor for you, but when I painted my GS I went to an Auto Paint supply store and learned that red is the most expensive color, all things equal, and black is the simplest and cheapest.

True, but for the little amount needed for a bike, it wont matter much. Keep the ideas coming guys, i appreciate the constructive critique. I think red frame would look good in the right shade.. i think i saw a DUCATI with that done... with black tank etc.. i was inspired somehow..

Anyhow, im an artist.. so who knows   Im weird like that.

Any photoshops are welcome.

I say red and black are used too much. You want to be original? Honestly? Go with graphite on the frame, and purple, orange or a cool shade of green. People just don't have that these days.

How about white on the frame and wheels, and either red or blue for the tank/plastics?  I think that'd be cool........

White on the GS frame looks pathetic. Graphite, black or silver etc look ok white is just cheesy...seen it...its pretty artificial looking...kinda like an old lady with jet black hair...not fooling anyone...and drawing attention to it rather un flatteringly i have seen it and it looks ugly...I also have seen an 900RR with that white and it also looks ugly. You might be able to chrome the frame with the new black chorme they have.
Cool.
