Got my new Veypor installed

This thing is awesome!

the main screen shows speed, rpm, gear indication, odometer, and fuel level.

So far my best 1/4 mile is 15.1, It also does 0-60, braking distance and g-force, horsepower, torque, mpg etc..

Cool...  How does it measure fuel level?  By an estimation of your inputs?

Yeah, It uses rpm/speed/gear/distance then you tell it when you fill up.  you have to go through a full tank before it has any info calculate with.

Supposedly it is quite accurate and gets better the more you use it. It actually calculates instantaneous mpg based on rpm/gear selection as well as average mpg.

Looks good, I've known a few people that replaced all their gauges with this type of unit.

Very cool. How readable is it in daylight? I'm worried about the screen washing out in direct sunlight...

It doesn't wash out at all in sunlight, the top picture is taken with a flash which should be about as bright as direct sun.

looks good, see im in the debate of whether to go with the veypor or the acewell,

the veypor sounds easy to set up and has the facility of a fuel gauge which is a novelty on a gs,

where as the acewell has the cable drive speedo converter which means no having to set up magnets then change them when you change your sprocket but they dont have the fuel gauge.

so its a kinda annoying one, just out of cuiosity does anyone have an acewell and do you connect it to you the coil for your revs just like the veypor or to the spark plug?

Given that it only senses speed and rpm, how does it know what gear you're in? I'm guessing it compares engine rpm to speed, and when that relationship changes, works out that you're in a different gear. I suppose that means it tells you you're in neutral when you've got the clutch pulled in? Does it get confused if you lock the rear under brakes with the clutch in?
I guess you could set up the magnet on the front wheel and save having to move it when you change sprockets.
You could calibrate it for accurate speed too, unlike the POS standard speedo!
Looks nice, anyway, and not too pricey.

It does figure it out based on speed/rpm, on the initial setup it has you run through the gears so it can figure out your ratios.

You can have it display the ratio as opposed to the gear if you want, maybe useful for racing? Some people have installed the magnet inside one of the sprocket bolts so changing sprockets doesn't affect it.

If you are coasting with the clutch pulled in it doesn't know what gear you are in till you let the clutch out. It shows you are in neutral when your speed is 0 so it may not be ideal to replace your neutral light. 

It has 3 accelerometers which is how it gives you g-force and hp/torque #'s and it is able to display all of this info on a graph.

you can even get an infrared/ magnetic sensor so it will record lap times at the track. It also has maintenance reminders that you can set for chain lube/oil change etc..

The shift light is very bright you can set it to come on based on rpm or a certain speed. I can't say enough good things about it, I am very happy.

I really want on of these and this one seems really good for the money, but it doesn't look as good as some of the others, and I want the one with temp also.

Edit: Looks like you can buy the magnetic bolt. They also have Veypors for sale on ebay.

update on fuel gauge accuracy:

It is VERY accurate, I filled up yesterday and veypor said i had used 2.94 gallons, after filling it took 2.95. and it showed an average mpg of 56.

I freaking love this thing, I dont have to track mileage with my odometer anymore now i just glance at the tank level indicator or check how many miles it says i have till empty.

how much did that beast cost if you dont mind?  I would love to swap to a all digital setup.

The website sells them for 150 plus 16 for shipping, but I emailed the guy and he let me have one for 130 shipped as part of a group buy.

That was the price he quoted me for a group purchase of 5 but we ended up with only 3 and he was still ok with it.

I think he might still sell more at that price and I will be happy to check if you are interested.
