I hope someone here knows how to locate someone across the country to which you only know their first, last name and the state they are in.  Is there a way to search the DMV for an address or something?  Because I found a friend online from HighSchool and am trying to contact him but can't get anything on the interent (like his internet isn't working)  I appreciate any help.  Thanks.    Oh and I believe he is still living with his parents so I cant search the white pages for his name either.

Maybe ussearch.com?

Never tried it myself, but it's what the Yahoo! People Search uses.

is there a way I can find the information on the site owner?

if you know at least one of his parent's names you can just type them into google.com.  just type in the search field: "first name" "last name" "city" "statea abrv".  the first entry should be a phone book listing with adress.  if you know a parent name you could use that.  also, you don't need the city name, but then it lists everyone in the state with that last name, so if it's common, or he's got relatives, you could be in trouble.

Why don't you e-mail him through the website?

The Privacy Act, the Information Act, and the Fair Credit Reportiong Act are in place to attempt to make sure you can't locate a person or look up his personal information unless you have a valid reason - long lost friend isn;t a valid reason.  You could be a deranged psycho hunting down your High School bully to "make things right...".

You could try www.infousa.com or pay a "Skip-Tracing" company to do it, but chances are they will take your money and put you in a legally percarious position.

I worked as a Skip-Tracer and Background Investigator for several years and laws that came into effect in 2000 and 2001 have made it more and more difficult to locate people without either money or a really good reason.

Good luck...

Generally this site will yield address, phone number, and driving directions.  Hopefully that will be sufficient?
