what is it used for? is it still in use? i'm currently studying network engineering and this fall i'm schedualed to take a class in novell. after said class, i'm told i can take a test and should i pass, i'll be a certified novell administrator.  how much will this benefit me? (not taking the class isn't an option as it is required for my major, i'm just curious if this is a major thing that i'll use)

Its not super widely used, really never was except in the late 90's early 2K. Now, im not sure... I took it in college years ago and never come accross it much except for older business that have software that only runs on Netware or something..

(edit)

im gonna leave what I posted above, but looking at the WiKi it looks like Novell is kinda mixed in w/ a lot of other O/S and software... So, I guess it is still around and somewhat popular  :dunno_white:

We use novell at our agency.

We use novell for the desktop / network management / Email / admin. Ofcourse due to the state's mandate they are moving to Microsoft Active Directory.

So basically novell sits on top of windows. Its no longer novell netware, which nobody ever uses, unless they call this novell netware. But yeah we still use it. its useful to know.
