Bike is back up and running. my parents were nice enough to purchase and pick up the parts I needed to get her operational. which cost about 60$ and my time to make more clip on bars.

I am going to start painting notches on the bike for how many battles its been in with me at least cant say how many its been in before me.

IIII it shall be! hopefully from now on it will be a time of peace and smooth riding for the old girl!

$60 and clip-ons?!!

I just spent that on a fuel filter, carb boots, and single SS screw.  Apparently bikebandit is ripping me off.  Who's your supplier, cause I KNOW you did more damage than $60.  Screw you!
After all the work I did to my bike (and got like 3 compliments), some Grandma will probably total mine next week.  But, you.... nooooo... sixty friggin dollars.

Get better soon, you jerk.

sixty friggin dollars....

Wow!  Congrats!  Glad you have the support to help getting it running again!  I might be in the market for a new set of bars for my clip ons I just purchased.  The right bar is bent and there is a screw broken in one of the bar ends.  What would it cost to hook a brother up?

Thanks,

Nick

well, I take handle bars and cut them up and re-weld them I just happened to have a load of handle bar stock from my stock bars and my bent clip on bars , so I cut them straights out of them and weld them up to 10.5"  we know my welds hold , because in the wreck one bar tore but not at the weld it was where the relief in the bar is for the screw then the other just bent. and they were welded. so I made some new ones which cost me nothing. here is what I fixed.

- after market turning signals (front) = $24
- suzuki brake lever = $22
- Clip on Bars = $0

now pieces that I taped up and fixed or are still busted

- speedo = glued back together and taped up still has busted housings for both gauges but work
- tank is nice and dented up but hell it still works
- bar ends are scuffed up but still work
- plastics are scratched but who cares anymore
- my beautiful expensive adjure headlights was dented in but did not effect the function so oh well will deal with till later

that is why in reality only cost $46.00

its not pretty but functional and thats all I can do right now.

I will be back in 3 months so I dont know if anyone can wait that long, but if anyone is still in need of non bend clip on bars, all you have to do is send me your old clip ons or some stock handle bars or any junk handle bars that I can cut up and reweld together and I will hook it up. but I have to wait to get back in town and that will be in another 3 months.

From here on out keep the shiny side up.

And don't let that hobag off the hook.

Glad to hear you got the bike running again. I hope you're feeling well enough to get out there and ride it. It is amazing how well the GS gauge cluster can be taped back together. The cluster on my project bike was damaged in a crash and the guy who gave it to me said he'd been riding for the past 10 years with the cluster taped back together and it all still works...

wladziu

You can't say hobag; you must be PC.  Say "hoe sack" instead.

Fill us in as to the extent of the damage, besides the clip-ons, Jah.  (Or, should we just call you "Traffic Missile"?)
Did the bike just fall over, or what?  Do you remember?  What was flashing through your mind as you were airborne?  Acceptance of your fate as an SUV dart?

I saw the car but couldn't avoid it so I thought OH SHIII I'm Dead!

worst feeling in the world.  I managed to kick the bike to the right as I Hit leaving minimal damage to it. me on the other hand I took the force of the crash

Well, that's good then.  You will heal and the bike is OK!  :thumb:

BEWARE of women in SUVs, especially when they're on the phone.  You'd never think there was a law against it.  I can't remember the last time I saw a woman under 50 driving who WASN'T on the phone!  Oh, yeah, I remember now.  It was BEFORE cell phones!

I drive without talkin on the phone!  :thumb:  I  just do it on the GS instead  . Actually saw a squid doing it on his gixxer going down I-4 idiots!

But, guys do it too. For me it seems to be a certain ethnicity called NewRicans! Was riding down 192 in pretty crowded traffic and heard a horn and it was the person beside me within a second he was talking on the phone and coming into my lane. So, close in fact it caught my elbow armor and I got a nice swatch of his light blue SUV with a boricua sticker on it. I was in shock for about 15 seconds and we came up to a red light. It took every fiber in my being to not get off my bike and just start hammering on his windows with my carbon fiber gloves and the elbow armor from my jacket. I'm thinking about carrying a small knife and the next sucker that does something like that out of malice then they are gonna lose a tire. I mean an accidental cut off is one thing it happens I get over it but this dude kept doing it even after actually making physical contact with me! My anger at idiots is getting to the point of boiling over!

Where I learned we used to say, "Be polite.  First honk with your horn.  Then honk with your boot."  I find that works well, and it's very satisfying.
