I just installed LED turn signals on the front and when i turn them on the just stay lit... Is the circuit so fast that it doesn't flash? do i need a relay to slow it down??? Thx

You will want to got to an autoparts store and buy a car relay. I had the same issue went to autozone got a really with the same pin pattern and whalla fixed my issue. and it will for you.

You need Electronic Flasher Unit which isn't load dependable and is suitable for LEDs

Your problem is with there being too much current going through the standard flash regulator. Buy a set of resistors for the led lights and it should remove the problem. I had to do this with my LED indicators.

Resistors are redundant and waste energy , better solution is Electronic flasher which doesn't need to sense resistance ,LEDs not only brighter

but they're also more efficient and reduce overall wattage consumption ( for anyone who cares about that    :icon_razz: )

make sure you get an electronic flasher and not a mechanical one.  you can find them at most car parts stores for <$10.

just take my stock one and try to match the pins??

Yes. Just find one that will match the plugs. I know it sounds funny but yes. The stock one is square and black and I found a round one that fit and works perfect. I'm suprised it worked so easily myself.

I went to Autozone today looking for my relay... I wasn't gonna ask for help but they were standing around bugging me... The original guy wasn't too helpful and was about to give up when the manager said he had something that would work and I just plugged it in and it works awesome!!! thanx for the help guys

Do you have a part number for it?

I have read several threads about converting to led signals and most seem to involve 1 or more resistors to get it to work properly.

I think I remember reading that you need a load balancer or something too?

Am I understanding you correctly that all you did was install led signals and switch out the relay and everything worked?

If you get LED signals to save energy, then load resistors and load balancers are the wrong way to go: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=46823.msg525505
However, if you get them because of their long life/looks, then feel free to add the high wattage resistors.

Toogoofy317

From what I have found in my installation of LEDs was that the first two went in no changes needed. Second set didn't create enough resistance so I had to do the load balancer, resistor, and diode for the indicator light.

But, if the rear is say stock and front led or vice versa you don't really need more than the resistor.

Hope that helps. The led stuff was about as clear as mud for me! Took forever to get everything just right but now it's done I love 'em!

it was my understanding that the electronic flasher (vs the mechanical version) solved all those problems and negated the need for all the resistors, balancers, etc.

It didn't for me. That was the first thing I bought. then the load balancer. Then to finish the diode. I took about a month for me to get through all of that to get everything perfect. It was just weird for me.

Maybe I'm just a complete screwup. that could be possible too.

It worked with just the relay for me so far... but I have yet to hook up the turn signal part of the Clear alternatives integrated tailight

ah, I think from what i have read the brake light will work as a direct swap for led's but it is only the signals that need all that other junk to work properly.

If you are able to get led turn signals to work by only changing the relay I'll definitely get some myself.

I installed LED front and rears on my GS recently.  After doing so, i got no flash at all (like 2 bulbs are out).  I wired in a load equalizer for low power draw leds.  Hooray for 4-way flashers.  After adding a diode between the indicator light and the signals i now have working signals, indicator and they flash at stock speed.  It's kinda screwed up.. boost the power then cut the power.

i got everything from denniskirk.com

http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp;jsessionid=FP5PJFCIPKKE5LA0WTVSM4VMDK0NCIV0?store=Main&skuId=211239

that's the diode kit. comes with instructions and took about 10 minutes to install

i got the load equalizer from my local dealership.  i think it was between 12-15$.  denniskirk and many other websites sell these parts.  they might also be available at your local dealership.

i read a lot of threads about relays and resistors and in the end found that the way i went was the way the dealer would have gone if i had paid them to do the install.

good luck and i hope i was some help

can you be more specific... do you mean you have on load equalizer in the signal indicator on the dash?

i have the same issue, and seeing as I installed everything at the end of last season, I just wired in the stock rear signals and packed 'em under the seat to get me through until spring when its warm enough to figure out whats happening.  :o
