Hey,

I own a 1991 and im wondering if the break discs were changed and at which year. because my bike needs new discs as they are fairly worn. And because my bikes old i dont see the point forking out 200odd quid for discs when my bike is only worth about 500 haha. Also a quick question does anyone know where i can get a rear brake caliper cover. The dirt cover on mine was missing when i bought it a few weeks ago, and the rear brake needs stripping down and cleaning as its partially seized so i want to get it before i get down to business. I dont fancy paying 30/40 quid for a used caliper if i can help it.

Many thanks.

rotors are the same for all years

you can get a new rear caliper cover from your parts supplier or dealership.   I bought one last month.  It was $8, not sure what that is in quid.

brilliant. il try and get some new discs from a newer bike thats being scrapped. means it will have less wear :)
and cool il start asking around a few part suppliers for it. then i can get stripping the real caliper. looking forward to it :)

thanks.

The Brake cover, part no 509510-001 is 6.64 quid brand new or 2-3 from a breaker. Discs go from about 20 quid and up depending on condition again from a breaker or ebay. The disc design front and back didnt change and all years are interchangable but the colour of the carrier on the front did, some are black, some are gold.

This is about the cheapest place in the UK right now for brand new, non-OEM GS5 spares.

I don't think there's any difference between a pound and a quid, but I don't think I want to hire a breaker for anything!  :cookoo:

I can break things all by myself!

Aaron, you do want to get that dirt cap.  It's probably why your caliper is hanging-up.  It keeps dirt out!  :thumb:
