Just throwing this out there...

Life has changed rather a lot in the two years since I got this; I'm spending far more time on the Wrecks these days than on the FZ.  So I'm thinking I might move from the FZ to something cheaper - like, for instance, a GS500.  If anyone wants to trade GS500 + cash for a pristine '07 FZ6, let me know.

Red '07 FZ6, ~3000 miles.  Stainless steel front lines.  Givi side racks.  Buttah-smooth, runs like a top, never down, not as much as a scratch on it.  This is the new body style with the beefier swingarm, the real tach, the good FI on the R6 engine.

Make sure it's "GS500+" cash.   :flipoff:  I won't take that regular GS500 cash!

GeeP

How many GS500's would it take to make the deal an even trade?   :D
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

Dang...if you were local I'd be all over this.  Why are all the good deals so far away?  :dunno_white:

I've been strongly considering an FZ6 as my next bike, along with an SV650.   I don't really understand why you are going back to a GS?  Could you comment further on that  please?
Attack but have a back up plan

Personally, I think the GS is a MUCH easier bike to ride...

R6
Pros:
Fast
Sexy
More available aftermarket parts.

Cons:
Hard to manuver(sp) at low speeds
high theft rate (and I do mean HIGH...  the #1 or #2 stolen bike in the US)
More available aftermarket parts.  (AKA "holy shaZam!, I spent HOW MUCH on the bike?!?!?!)

The GS was much better at low speeds.  I was able to ACE the MSF ERC test using the GS.  I'd like to take the R6 to the MSF ERC, but I don't have the same confidence in those tight manuvers.

This isn't an R6.  Same engine, completely different frame, suspension, everything else.

I've had a few offers to buy it outright, so I'm going to see if those pan out before pursuing the trade leads.  In all ways (ducks and covers), I think it's a better bike than the GS500.  Smooth, powerful engine, great FI (they improved it in '07), suspension and steering very tractable for the street (they changed the suspension in '07), nice big tank.  The suspension isn't harsh for the street, unlike a track-oriented bike like the R6, and the steering and seating position are those of a standard, so it's comfortable over distances and good at low-speed manuvers.  It's also not an R6, so it doesn't get stolen like an R6 and teenage yahoos don't try to race you like they do when you're on an R6.  The valve check intervals are ridiculous (the first one is at 26,000 miles, and most people are still in spec).

The GS500 does get better mileage, although I've heard that people who take it easy get in the 50s on this.  Probably cheaper insurance, too, although this is probably going to have cheaper insurance than an R6 with most carriers.

I'm considering the trade + cash (or an outright sell, followed by getting something cheaper) because I no longer moto-commute to work, which means it's the most valuable bike in my garage and rarely gets ridden, and my priorities have shifted away from the street and more towards the track.

I've taken this on roadtrips and taken it camping.  Very practical, very fun.

I might have missed this, but where are you located? I have a 2005 black/silver/red GS that has 1k and has spend most of it's life in storage due to job moves. Based on the back round in the pics, you are not located close to upstate ny....

If you weren't on the other side of the earth I would def offer up my gs+CASH

Sold it outright... by a nice coinkydink, at the same time as an inexpensive copper miniSV came up for sale.

Not as good a bike, IMO, but the price is right; I'm checking it out tonight.
