Yeah, my cousin has one that he's selling, but I don't want to pay what he's asking, haha. If anybody is interested, it's on Philadelphia Craigslist. It has something like 15,000 miles, new tank and battery. Screaming eagle exhaust(??). Small tear in the seat, runs and drives great(I've ridden it around before, it's very comfortable). I want to get one that I can put rediculous miles on, and not have problems with. I actually almost bought a 2000 vulcan 500(or was it a 550??) a couple weeks ago. It just needed the carbs cleaned. It had 4XX Miles on it. That's right, four hundred something. The guy bought it and tucked it away in his garage. he was asking 1500... Of course, somebody beat me to it. Actually, like 50 somebodies.  >:(  So now i'm stuck with a project! Well after I get my carbs sent out to the BuddhaMan, I just need to track down a set of mirrors, do oil change, check brakes, forks... stuff like that, and I can test it around the neighborhood. I am looking for a set of tires, I think I'm going to settle for a set of Kenda 671's - any info on those?? any other rubber recommended for going the distance??  haha. I did find a great price on Maxxis Supermaxx fronts for the bike. They want $40 and free shipping on brand new 110/70/17. Pretty good, I say. Any size recommendations? I was thinking of 110/70 in the front and 140/70 in the rear, how's that sound??

A GS will comfortably out last all of the listed bikes at a far lower price. Its actually cheaper to run than nayhting else around if you remove tires and chain+sprokets from the equation.
The nighthawk, 500 vulcan etc come close, but they are more work if they break down and more $$ to get parts for due to the lack of the gstwin behind it. very very very few sites stand up to the gstwinners in terms of parts circulation as well as expertise.
Vulcan 500 clowns consider it as having done it yourself if you personally hand over the keys to the service manager.
Not here. If you say you rebuilt something in gstwin, 1 you'd get a million questions, and 2. Someone would invariably ask, so you replaced all the metal in the crank ... No then how is it rebuilding.
Aaaah OK you replaced the bearings ... and O rings. So its a bearing swap and an O ring job. So you dont get people who're full of shiete.

Anyway your carbs will get back soon - I am yet to get it, tommorow is deathly cold I aint stepping out the house, but thursday/friday sat look good.
Cool.

I am new here, I just bought a 94 gs500. The bike has a little over 3k on the clock. It is in ok shape, the carbs have been removed and taken apart and pieces are missing and it's just crap. Other than that, it's all there minus the mirrors and the choke cable is stuck. Does anyone have a carb they don't need? How much do you want for it ?? Mirrors? Choke cable?? There are patches of surface rust all around the bike, should I take some steel wool to it? Are these things fun to ride(do they have enough power)?? How comfortable are they for long rides? I'm planning on making a ~350 mile trip every other weekend(that's about 700 miles RT). What kind of mileage should I expect from it? Are there any simple, inexpensive upgrades to do to the thing? Please let me know, thanks a lot!!!

Sorry it took a while to get some pics uploaded.  The glass is in good shape with a very small hairline scratch you can barely see.  The exterior of both mirrors have some scratches from the previous owner's lane-splitting escapades I presume.  Other than that, a very usable set of stock mirrors.  $15 shipped to continental US and I can ship elsewhere if needed but please pm for S&H quote.

I have a SET of carbs including the "rail" or bracket that holds them together. I'll sell you the complete set just as they came off the bike for $150.00 and I'll give a good looking PAIR of stock mirrors and you pay the shipping.
