I've done a search already and only found a few things, but what Im going for here is what bodies either from different bikes or aftermarket fairings or even race bodies that youve done or seen done on the GS. Basically Im thinking of mounting a different body on my GS beings how I have to replace almost all of the fairings. But I am also thinking of modifying what ever I put on it. I dont want to mount a 09 ninja 250 fairings on it and have people think oh well hes trying to make it look like X-bike. It will be changed up just looking for ideas, kinda like they guy that did the ducati switch, and so forth. Any takers?

I´ll say GO FOR IT! You propably have seen my thread with my GS and the Ducati 748 fairings. You will have to do a lot of fabrications on your own, but with a welder and som patience you can probably mount any fairing on the GS. But do a lot of planing and research before ju start cuting in yout frame or anything. I´m currently wokring on my second attempt to do a more seriuos aprouch for mountings and frame for the Ducati fairings. Hopfully i´ll posts some pics on the current state of by build soon.

Im also thinking of the swingarm swap. still gotta do a little research to see which way I wanta go, just looking to do a better rear like the bandit 1200 or maybe even a single sided if I can find one priced right.

Not really going for size, more availability and handling and aesthetics than anything I could get away with the katana rear wheel, but like I said I wanted to get a better swing in there as far as adjustability and reliability. I have a huge problem when I ride mine a little more aggressively the chain adjustment slips and bends the rear backing plate. Ive tried different torques from manual recommended and up but nothing seems to work so if I'm already gonna do some modifications, I might as well do the swingarm too.

well if your bending the plate for your adjuster bolts your not getting your axle bolt tight enough before your riding.

yeah I know but ive torqued that thing way passed recomended lbs. I believe rec. is 40 or 50 lbs Ive gone up to 90 or so. same result. You get much tighter than that Im sure youl start squeezing your barrings too much. premature failure.

are you sure your not missing a bushing or spacer somewhere in the mix?  and when your getting your torque reading are you torquing the nut or the bolt?

nothing missing torqued it from nut side then from bolt side to double check. Same way Ive done it on other bikes, without problems.

thats strainge  i think your the only person that ive heard of having this problem.  as far as it moving after you torque it properly.  oh and as far as fairings there are a few brizian companys that sell fairing kits for the gs double headlike kits and 2 peice rear seat and tail sections.

You're thinking of putting some other swingarm on your gs and hoping for more reliability? I don't think you're going to get it. The original swingarm is totally reliable as far as I've ever seen. If you're having problems with your axle not staying in place, you need to address that because you're probably missing something or doing something wrong. That is a problem with your bike that needs to be fixed, not an inherent flaw in the design...

one of the euro fairings would be cool.  there's a recent thread with a pic of one on here somewhere.

OK OK OK enough about the blasted swingarm. This thread is about bodies and such....  As stated, I said also Asthetics and availability is anyone missing that?...... Back on the body issues. I may even consider using factory plastics and plasti-welding different pieces together to make something custom.

If I had the funds I would sooooo be ordering the GS500R body from the brazilian company!!  It looks sick and can never be accused of making it look like something it isn't.

The brazillian is alright but Im thinking there's gotta be something out there niceer than that. Especially for a grand.
