Hey people  :) Recently obtained a 1996 gs500 for cheap...trying to fix it up...Have learned many a lesson on here in the past few weeks but got another question...looks like the petcock has leaked gas onto the left side of the frame and left a stain...any way to remove this without repainting frame? It's not too bad just a "ghost" outline of where it came out...THANKS O0

Gas is a solvent, it took the paint off instead of staining it. You can get paint that will match your frame's paint color so you don't have to repaint everything. Search around for it and you'll be able to find it. If it isn't rusting though, I'd be tempted to just leave it and ride more, but that's me. I ride my bike every day, so I'm unwilling to do any work on it that can't be started and finished inside of an afternoon. Some day I'll get my project bike running and have two, but that hasn't happened yet...
