i turn my bike on and it idles at 7000 rpm.  I just got the bike.  any solutions?  also, how can i tell if it's runing too "lean".  and is it necessary to get the carb serviced   thanks

btw the bike has been siting for about a year.
fisrt bike, figuring out how to work it.  Never dealt with carbs before.

Is the choke open or closed when you start?  If the choke is closed, it's most likely the idle screw.  Its' the big gold screw pointing down from underneath the carbs.  Once the bike is warm, you can adjust the idle by turining it in or out.

If that doesn't solve your problem, I would recommend doing a search on this forum on the topic.  Lots of people have posted tricks , techniques and pictures showing how to get the idle set properly in the past.

Good luck with your trouble-shooting!   :)
