SEE ADDITIONAL PICS BELOW! (Added on Friday, 6 March 09)

Hey all,

I bought this Axio hardpack tail bag before my luggage rack was completed. Since I've got a topcase now, this hasn't been used in over six months. Thought maybe another GS-er could make good use of it.

This bag is perfect for weekend rides. Throw in a jacket liner, spare visor, cell phone, camera, and a bottle of water for a day on the road. My chapstick, a couple pairs of ear plugs, a few small bills, and loose change are always in the small pocket. There's room for your gloves when you get some coffee or stop for lunch. Oh, and floss. I never leave home without floss.  :icon_mrgreen:

I've always liked that this bag is functional without compromising the "sporty" look of the bike. I've never been big on tank bags so the tail bag was a really nice alternative. Plus, this one had the added bonus of kinda looking like a rear cowl, especially while in motion. When at a stop, you'll have to squint...and tilt your head to the right a little.  :icon_arrow:

The product details are below, but this bag has a CUSTOM FEATURE you won't find on any other off-the-shelf Axio: there are black retroreflective fabric strips sewn onto the sides. It was painstakingly done and my thumb hurt for days afterward. (Thimbles exist for a reason.) But the increase in visibility from the side was totally worth it.  :thumb:

There's also a reflective Rev'it sticker on it. Can be easily removed if you're not into it. The bag has a couple subtle dull spot on the finish from use - check out the photos. Zippers, velcro and clips all work perfectly.

Okay, here are some additional photos, fresh from the camera! You can see the pics that I don't have a grab bar on the bike; that's because I usually have my luggage rack bolted to that those attachment points. You could just as easily use this WITH the grab bar in place. Now that I look at it, it's looking pretty sexy on the bike. Not as functional as my topcase but a whole lot better looking! Hmm.

Also, I tried to take some detailed shots of the underside of the bag. It's this rubbery material that grips. No sliding at all when it's secured with the straps.  :thumb:

For the sake of comparison

Hmm, this might be the ticket for my Wrecks.  Want to trade for boots?

You're tiny! No way your boots would fit me!

Plus, I already bought a new pair boots that fit:woohoo:

And what is/are your "Wrecks." I know you're not talking about any of those bikes in your garage...

WR250X = Wrecks.  We nickname all the bikes.  Drizz, Titter, Arr, Fizz, Big Fat Pig...

:icon_idea: I see!

"Wrecks" sounds bad.  :icon_sad: Why not "Rex"? (That's what one of my friends called his Subaru WRX.)

Can you take more pictures of it on the bike?

When at speed, does it float over the seat? What I mean is, if I put my GoPro camera on it, will it bobble and wobble around, or is it stuck really tight to the seat, just like it was a rear cowl? It might be nice to get a higher vantage point in the twisties, and if I bring my tank bag, then I can't put the camera on the tank. This might solve that problem.

Also, my bike's name is Sushi.

Sure! I'll try and take more pics of the bag on the bike tonight or tomorrow.

Do you mean putting your camera on the tail bag or in the tail bag? No, the tail bag doesn't float up or move when you're riding. The attachment points are velcro and they don't go anywhere. No bobbling or wobbling.

I'll take some pics of Bumble Jacket* with the Axio and post 'em soon as I can.

* When I first bought it, I thought it looked like a yellow jacket. My buddy thought it looked like a bumble bee. :cookoo: Bumble Jacket somehow stuck. :icon_rolleyes:

I'm still here but I'm SWAMPED this week.

(when in doubt, DO NOT GO TO LAW SCHOOL. UGH)

If you come to SF with it, let me know. Otherwise we can meet at Alices in April.

Doh, was just up there this weekend. Do you want me to PM you or just post to this thread if I make an unplanned trip to the city? Or you can PM me your number and I'll give you a call.

Good luck with classes!
