Headlight Brackets?

I am in the middle doing some new additions on my front end. I went for my first ride this season about a month ago and i went down (due to horrible piece or asphalt breaking while my front wheel was on it trying to dodge a huge pothole damn Massachusetts) and i broke my front right blinker and dented my headlight lamp. well i bought a headlight fender but i need to make some brackets to make it fit. Would a 1/8 inch piece of aluminum will work?
