So I am still not happy with my front light after I purchased a new 60/55 that "claimed" to throw out 50% more light.  Anyway it didn't so I went down to my local Auto shop having a look at globes when the owner of the place walks up behind me and asks if I require any help.  I politely said no I am fine and knew what I was looking for.  He then said well is there anything in particular you wanted.  Not being rude I said to him yes I am looking for a 12v H4 60/55 globe for my motorcycle.......thats when the trouble started.....He threw his arms in the air and said no no no you do not want a 60/55 you need lower wattage than that it is for a motorcycle.  I told him that my bike and all bikes I have owned in the last 19 years have ALL used the same 60/55 globe.  Anyway the prick would not listen to me and insisted that I was wrong and he was right and I would damage my headlight, wires and surrounds........By now steam was starting to come out of my ears so I told the guy he was full of  :bs: and he knew nothing at all about motorcycles and walked out of his shop.

I rode home rather angry and picked up my service manual and went back to the shop and stuck the book under the idiots face and made him EAT HIS WORDS.  AS I walked out of the shop and got on the bike he came after me swearing at me so I kicked the side stand down and walked up to him and asked him to repeat what he just said as I was in the mood to feed the guy his own teeth.

No apology no nothing from the guy and all he ended up in doing was losing not only a sale but also me as a futuire customer.

I love proving idiots that know nothing about motorcycles WRONG.

Auto shop owners don't know SH!T about bikes.....

Only after I told him I will get my manual to prove it to him.

Yea smart move not going back annguyen1981......How many other people would this guy have given the wrong information to or sold the wrong globe to.  And no I did not go back to START TROUBLE just EDUCATE.

These people only learn by proof and proof is what I went home to get.

so yea annguyen1981 Im an a$$ for going home to educate this fool.

Doesn't sound like an 'education' to me.

I've been in retail for 8+ years....  and the one thing that I've noticed (in myself) is that MY mood is dictated by the other person....  and it has to be extreme for me to react.

If the customer is KINDA pissy, I'm still professional and just ignore their attitude and such.  If they increase their attitude to an extreme, I will show it back to them A LITTLE BIT...  not a lot.  Maybe HIS attitude was a reflection of your own that you portrayed.

Unless you are blind and can't read annguyen1981 I was nice to start with to the guy and it was HIM who lost his cool to start with....I simply reacted to his bad temper.  HE was the one who said to me "go home and get your stupid manual and you will see YOU are WRONG".  I was happy to walk out which is what I did till he told me the manual would prove HIM correct.

Like you said annguyen1981 YOU react to customers the way THEY speak to you.....I was reacting to the way this guy spoke to me and reacted to a store owner that was WRONG on ALL COUNTS.  I bet YOU would have gotten off your bike and confronted the guy as well if he called you a "GOOD FOR F*CK ALL BLACK C*NT"  I was the last customer of the day and he must have been in a bad mood to start with......No excuse to talk to a customer like that.....

Anyway my point of this thread is not to upset people like you annguyen1981 which are in retail but to inform other riders to use caution when dealing with Auto shops and not motorcycle shops.

Sometimes it comes to a point where I would go for this education. But some people are so stupid and in denial that they're wrong that no education will ever change their mind. In those case any education is futile and we would just have to let Darwin do its job.
