does anyone have an idea how could I secure fishing rod to an F version of gs? I have telescopic rod that fits in my backpack but I do not like it's action and would prefer to take my shakespeare crappie rod with me, but I have no idea how this could be done.
I would appreciate any ideas! thanks
happy riding and fishing :)

EDIT: the rod is about 9ft long but contains two pieces, so each one is about 4ft or 4.5ft long

wow man.. only in this forum we got answers for everything.. that is an awesome answer to this specif question.   +1.

Now if its longer than that thing.. you may need to tie orange flag at the end of it for safety reason.  in case you poke one of the cagers.

I carry a backpacker's fishing outfit when I ride in country with "good" water.  Very compact and still a good rig.  Cabelas has several listed online or in store.

Well I took a piece of PVC that my rod would fit into and cut a notch so that the reel would rest in the notch.  I attached this PVC via hose clamps to the passenger peg on the left, non muffler, side and used a bungee to secure the pole into the holder.  It worked great but did look a little weird, like the pole was some antenna, and whistled a little.

That reminds me of the day I was walking around Good Will. Was not intending on buying anything (a woman shopping like that will happen!) But, I saw this brand new in the box Fat Head of Zach Thomas for $10 ever price a Fat Head? Go Dolphin's well I bought it got outside uh oh where am I gonna put this? Thank Goodness there was a Dollar Tree next door three bungee cords for a buck and an orange clothes sack. I bungied it down to the back seat and tied the orange bag to the back. Boy did I get some looks but I got my Darling ZACH home! Then at the end of the season they traded him! boy I was Pissed!

BTW on Killroy.com there was a picture of a dude on a Busa with an amputation just below the knee and crutches on the side! Wonder how he was braking on the Dragon? But that is courage!

this is a neat idea but for the price of one of those "tubes" I could buy new crappie every time I go fishing for the next 16 trips and then throw it away after the day...

I think I'll play with PVC pipes.  ...and for the looks - I think that it wouldn't look any worse than myself, at the lake holding a fishing rod and hoping to catch some nice fish and at the same time being all dressed up in protective riding gear  ;) (you know... when you put all those fishing equipment into the backpack there is NO room left for ordinary clothing  :thumb: ) - if you fish then you know what I mean

thanks guys for replies

I have only gone trout fishing on the GS i think, but... I bought and ugly stick, carry a backpack w/ all my tackle in it and bend the ugly stick in the backbacks side pocket like a bow  :thumb:

I have a tacklebelt that is like a fannypack, I break the rod down, in half, thread it under the grab bar, then attatch the tacklebelt around the rear seat, holding the handle of the rod to the seat, and preventing it from sliding around
