Had an accident few years back when a small car cut in front of me and stopped dead ,I gave it a push to get going again

but in the process bent the forks.

I rebuilt with brand new tubes and used sliders and rode on , the feel of the bike was different but I thought it was my lost confidence,

turns out more stuff got bent that I didn't notice or just didn't care until recent tire change  :icon_rolleyes:

That's the rim:

and the axle that i thought was straight until i rolled it on glass:

more experienced mechanic told me it was bent on a recent tire change but I knew better !  :embarrassed:

Big Shot

Are you looking to buy a new rim and axle?

- Bob!

Affschnozel

I'll buy a new axle ,as for the rim I either buy used straight one or take the one I got to a specialist if there is one in my area

the last option is buying new it costs ~500$  in Israel that is  :icon_eek:

Ebay is no option for me as I've heard of "bent" deals :

I'll snoop locally or just ride it as is for now

The buddha has been known to squeeze one past Israel customs every once in a while ...
I can dig up a wheel and axle and ... well It prolly cost big $$ to ship there.
Cool.

Actually in 90's GS was the most popular bike here due to 500cc license step so parts are plentiful for the GS

problem is finding good parts as most bikes are rarely cared for in that category

Thanks for the offer Buddha  ;)   I'm sure that will still be cheaper than buying stuff over here, tomorrow I'll

get a quote for axle from local Suzuki dealer to compare with Bikebandit's $26.83

Got quote for axle  44.55$ , almost twice the price but as i'm planing to replace brake lines ,master cylinder ,clutch plates etc

i'm gonna order from abroad anyways and order the axle too ,see how it goes with local customs  :icon_confused:

After customs and taxes it'll still be cheaper than buying locally i guess   :dunno_black:

Brake lines, calipers, master cyl I have lying about ... axle too, clutch plates well ... dont have that, but I'll ship these for 100 ... send me the clutch from wherever you're ordering it, I'll put in the best brakes I got, the axle and send it all ...
However, you buying new brakes ... mine are not. Axle - well its a chunk of steel, so make no diff. But brakes ...
Cool.

New axle got the feeling and confidence back to the front :woohoo:  , new seals and master cyl are installed but can't bleed the brakes fully yet,

tried the syringe method with partial success but the lever is still mushy ( I'm still waiting for a goodridge SS line so I'll deal with it latter )

While waiting for the parts I refurbished my clutch basket as it had some grooves in it:

Did the same for the inner hub , result is totally smooth engagement .

The only thing bothers me is that clutch release mechanism is adjusted to the max ( all the way in ) if I back it out even a little

it won't disengage the clutch ,the cable is tight and plates are all good ,I had this happen to it while ago:

But It got fixed so I have no more ideas for what is wrong  :dunno_black:

omrimon

I have a set of wheels for sale, I'm located in Herzeliya.

PM if you're interested.

the culprit is weak clutch springs. they are not strong enough to resist the pressure when you pull in the clutch. so you have to adjust it all the way in whare the springs are the strongest.  this probably dosn't make sence but it is the springs.  for the shipping stuff you may be able to work something out with my kid sister, she is in Iseral for the next year or so as a contractor.  i think she has a APO/FPO address but i don't know anything about it. as we are not on speaking terms at the moment. i don't know whare she is in the country either, but the cost of shipping to a APO/FPO is the same as shipping in the us. so either meeting her somewhare or she could relay the stuff localy is going to be way cheeper and no customs. hit her up on facebook sometime and just tell her your a friend of her brothers...http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/profile.php?id=508439042
the left side of the bike is always from the riders point of view.

Well , I also installed new stiffer clutch springs so it must be something else .

I have another clutch release mechanism so I'll troubleshoot with it and see if it'll make a difference.

Thanks for the offer omrimon and badkarma506  :thumb:

BTW in the end I bought the parts locally as the difference in price with shipment ( 62$  :icon_eek: ) was marginal

Now only waiting for Goodridge brake line to arrive from UK ( 20 days and counting  :icon_neutral: )

UPDATE: just got the Goodridge !  :woohoo:
