yep today me and my dad went out for a little 200 mile ride through bama testing out a ride he mapped. on our way back to the house he took a wrong turn. so im all off in cyber space not paying attention. all of a sudden i see a railroad crossing sign. think nothing of it cruising along at 70mph. then i start to see smoke. look down to see my dads back tire locked up. naturally i panick and scramble for the brakes. i guess i had the front brake on really hard or somthing cause i notice the back of the bike starts movin to the left. and then i realize, my back tire got locked up. let go and it locks up again. rinse and repeat if you know what i mean. then comes a dirt rode. immediately i think both me and my dad are goin down. luckly i can hold my back tire (locked up) in dirt til i stop. made me scared to jump on my front brake cause i thought it was gonna lock up. we all know what happens when the front tire locks up. thankfully, the that had it before me had put new brakes on it. (they are only bout 1000 to 2000 miles old) amazingly i come to a stop within 100 feet, give or take 20-30. go up couple of miles and notice my tach isnt working. i try and hit the gauge hopin that works. we pull over at a gas station and found out the cable is just out. needless to say i had to go use the little boys room when we got inside. Should never release the rear brake when its locked up, it will cause a highside. Frontbrake is the only one you should modulate when/if it locks up. Surprised it didnt buck you off.

I had a similar experience on my old bike.  only it was a car going from 60-0 right in front of me for no apparent reason.  Locked the back brake up.  Only they had drilled into me in MSF to not let up when you lock it, so now I'm sliding the rear tire out to the right while I go past the car in front of me in the left turn lane.  Probably skided for about 100 feet before I brought it to a stop.  About half way through I realized I was actually having fun sliding the rearend around.  Wouldn't want to do it again though.

Glad ur ok.
The guys are right about not releasing that back brake.
(Remember the MSF course drill?)
Glad you didn't highside. That experience coulda turned out really bad, 'specially since you had been going around 70mph!
:o
Blah blah blah...

Congrats on keeping it going and obviously not losing your cool for when your cool goes the s**t hits the fan and that is when you come off.

As everyone else has said you should never release the back brake and your darn lucky that you weren't highsided. I can testify that it sure hurts when you go, fortunately i was in on a trackday and in full leathers and got out of it lightly - just a few bruises.
