took my MSF course a month ago and no waiver in the mail yet... Anyone else go through this? I am getting pretty irritated with the nice weather I cant ride in... If I have to tool around the nighborhood one more time I  might go crazy!

So go take the regular road test - if you passed MSF, it should be a cakewalk.

No experience with waivers, where/when I took MSF, it did nothing for the DMV, and not much for insurance, either. Still a good deal.

what state are you in? hope OH doesn't take more than a week after mine.  I want to get mine ASAP as soon as the class is over.  :icon_mrgreen:

NY...I suppose I could take the road test. If I did I am sure the waiver would be in my mailbox the next day.

I rode nearly 200 miles before I left my neighborhood while I was learning...
The neighbors did think I was crazy.

What is the waiver for? In PA once you are done w/ the test and pass, thats it. You have your licence. They dont send you anyting... And +1 to insurance not changing much if any. All the MSF was good for is the experience  It didnt discount my insurance at all.

In New Mexico, you finish the MSF course and they sign a little card and give it to you.  You show that card when you get a new license and they put the motorcycle endorsement on it.

I'm not sure what waiver you're talking about.

The MSF equivalent here in Canada saves you a (metric) ton on insurance.

However, even so I'm paying 500/year.  And that's fairly cheap!
Canadian insurance rates are ridiculous  :2guns:

You sure you took the MSF course?  lol..     Most that i know and one that I have joined they  give you the card at end of  course if you pass and you just have to show it at the DMV for the endorsement to be put on.

Yeah, but that's 500 Canadian dollars which is equal to like 89 US dollars... :icon_razz:

Yeah the MSF course in NJ they give you the card you need to get your license right after you pass.  You just have to walk into the DMV with it and they add the endorsement to your license.  The beginner course does nothing for insurance here either but supposedly the advanced does but i am only paying $24 a month with full coverage so i don't know how much of a break it really is.  Gonna take the course anyway since i think it is a good idea just waiting for my bike to be running correctly first.

In NY, if you take and pass the MSF course, they mail you a waiver card that you bring to the DMV and they give you your license... Am i sure i took an msf course.... give me some credit!! Well, I guess it is gonna be a few more rides around the neighborhood...

Took 2 weeks for my NY waiver to arrive, to the day.  You can always call the NYS motorcycle safety group (MANYS??)  to see if they've mailed it (I know because I did after two weeks of waiting).  Takes a day or two after they mail it to arrive.

Hmm weird you guys don't get the paper interim license? Here in California you turn in your waiver and they print you out a temporary license until you get your card in the mail.

Yup,

here in Florida they give you the card when you finish. I went straight over it was a block away nice planning on their part LOL. But, they were being jacka$$es told me I had to go to the big DMV that closed an hour earlier I waited an hour for that I got to the other place at ten till and they were already closed! WTF, the officer told me the other DMV can do it it shouldn't be a problem. Go back and the security officer there a total a$$ (I'm a security officer myself I know how it works) I was a bit miffed because I had to pick my bike up from the dealer that day or they would start charging storage fees they had already held it two weeks! All of a sudden the person at the window said the magic words "Ma'am Please calm down" aka "SECURITY" he walks up with his hand on his tazer I'm already backing off "There's not going to be a problem is there" AKA "Give me one reason to taze you" I stated I'm not raising my voice I'm expressing my concern for the lack continuity in what the employees have been telling me for the past four hours!  I also told him "For the record with witnesses present I have an implanted cardiac device and the tazer is now considered deadly force" I asked him to speak with a Supervisor I was denied. I gave up my "M" endorsement was not worth my life. The next day however, I wore my security uniform in and they jumped through hoops to help me out. The same security guard was there and he did a double take. Then he came up to me and said "Why didn't you tell me?" "I shouldn't need to to be treated with respect"

But, all was forgotten when I picked up my beloved "Flick" and took him home!

I hate government installations I have way too many horror stories!

If you absolutely HAVE to ride before the endorsement comes in the mail, you have another option.  You can go to the DMV and take the computer test for a 90 day learner's permit, no appointment necessary.  You should already know the material from the MSF course and it's only $15.  They'll put it on your license as soon as you are done.  Only restrictions are no night-time riding and no passengers.

joshr08

no night time and no passangers ha thats only a rule if you get caught.  this gs is my second bike and i still dont have a lic.  im taking my road test in a few weeks but as long as your not acting like a jacka$$ no one bothers you.

Josh be careful!  In my small hometown I spent 3 days in jail for driving without a license, so depending on how your local police are they can easily mess your life up!
