Need a few dimensions

I'm away from my bike for the entire day.

I need the following dimensions for a possible modification:
width of the tank at the base, facing the rider  (I'd love to have a picture of it, with a tape measurer in the picture)
width of the frame at that spot
length of the seat - specifically, the distance from the tank to the hump designating the pillion section, not counting the piece of the seat that rises vertically up the tank (the nut-pad)
width of the frame at that spot, also

Also, if anyone knows the wheel travel, that would come in handy.  Like I said, I'd measure it myself, but I'm away from my bike and going crazy with ideas.
I'm wondering if I can cut off the section of the frame that holds the seat release, and then weld a flat plate across it.  I want to lay a flat seat pan along the frame rails.  I'm just wondering whether I need to angle the subframe up for clearance (and how far), or if I can get away with leaving it as-is.

Thanks in advance.

Or I could do that, yeah.

Thanks, Ken.

Model # VSM2, shortened a little in the front.  Weld one leg of a hinge onto the lower lip of the gas tank.  Epoxy or bolt the other side of the hinge to the facing edge of the seat pan.  Something with a removable center pin with a cotter pin retainer, if I can find one.

Epoxy or rivet a floor to the rear portion; use that to attach to the mounting latch (with the latch sitting up inside the cowl).  Or, remove the portion of the frame that the bracket attaches to, weld a flat plate across, instead, and just attach the seat piece to that.  That option would give me a possibility for some storage inside the cowl, if I make a little door on the flat part facing the tank.  Either a door on a hinge with a spring, or a simple hole that I can cover with a vinyl or leather seat cover.

I'm cool with using a metal bowl like you were talking about, but you'd have to let me rent your welder to make a pan and fab it together.  I don't really want just a cover, since this could fix that seat problem that I have.
Only thing I'm not sure about is the rear wheel travel - is it gonna contact the seat pan?  And, I'd have to find some hippie to sew me a cover with snaps on it, like in the picture.
