A few cell phone cam pics of the linkage. I used a 7" angle grinder. Linkage started rusty and smiley shaped. A gentle arc like a parenthesis.

I straightened it out to better clear the rebound damping knob and lower shock "ears" or clevis.

The outdoor stump mounted vice holds a linkage with the right side basically done. Left needs to be duplicated, and the middle carved away to clear the rebound adjusting knob.

The new side profile.

The rebound adjusting knob (button).

Pretty much done.

I degreased, dried and "Instant cold galvanized" the linkage after. being careful to mask the holes and I noticed the needle bearings in the linkage. Nice stuff for an entry level bike!

Thanks for the info i appreciate this.   I was wondering for those of you who have  grinded this metal down.  Will this grinder work?  Or will it not be enough power to do the job. I am in need of a grinder just for this job and it will cost 30bucks.. that was the lowest price..  the good ones seems to hover above 100.
