Man that truck is jacked.

FYI I sliped when I was cutting the grass yesterday and now my back hurts as bad as it did before my surgery.
I just hope it's just a pull and not the disc blowing back out.

Pain specialists, chiropractors, drug dealers, witch doctors, and voodoo practitioners are all in the same category as far as I'm concerned.  I speak from some authority.  We like to say "pain management is more forever than any diamond."  They're not looking to make you better, they're looking to dull the pain, which can actually make things worse.

Toogoofy317

I call  :bs: on that! When you have severe chronic conditions that threaten not only your life but your quality of life you will want one. I have had a pain management specialist for over five years. She reduced the amount pain medications I was on three fold! Btw what is your authority does it come with M.D or D.O behind it or let me guess J.D. because they know ALL about medication. They don't just shove pain drugs at you for Christ's sake I've not been this angry in awhile. Why because I take this as a direct insult to a Dr. that has gotten up at 0300 to take care of me when I had a kidney stone and the other docs didn't care or when she came in to take care of me one week after having a masectomy. That is dedication to her patients. You have a right to your opinion but my opinion is that it sucks!

Sterotyping is wrong!

Hey Yama,
I rejacked up my back on Tue. went to the ER today and was told by the little 19 year old PRICK of a ER Doc that " an x-ray on you would be a waste of my time and radiation" If I could walk I would have punched him in the mouth.  >:( :2guns: :2guns: :2guns: :2guns: :2guns: So I just have to deal untill the 3rd and wait on my follow up apt with my sergeon.  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

My family has 4 md's with 9 specialties in just the last two generations. I am not one, but work with doctors every day, and deal with medical records every day.  I deal with other people who work with doctors every day, and deal with medical records every day.  None of them put much stock in pain managment.  If done right, whoever you're seeing should have you on a pain meds contract, which means only that doctor can give you pain meds.  Then they can prescribe without worrying about you being on five meds.  If your problem is your back, you should be seeing a back/spine specialist or ortho who is managing your meds.  A pain mgmt doc can really just either give you meds or send you somewhere else.  They generally can't make you any better.

there should be a way around the settlement. i don't know about the laws in your state but they should be basakwards enough (unless you live in a dry county) that you can take them to court for contiueing medical expenses incurred due to thier neglience.  find a good lawer and communicate to him what happened and he should be able to tell you the same thing.  that basicly they are still responsible for certian things even if they settled the case. and i'm pretty sure that contiuing medical issues as a result of thier negilence they are liable for.

That is not necessairily true Lawman. Like my PM Doc for instance she also specializes in Sports medicine.rehabilitation. She does manipulation and over sees the physical therapy arm of it. In Kissimmee docs will not prescribe pain meds (seems like what yama is facing now) that is how I went to my doc and she has been a life saver.  For the two herniated disc in my back and my seperated shoulder the trigger point injections do very well. Her philosophy is that she only sends you to an ortho if she suspects you will need surgery. Just by teaching correct body mechanics she says has cut the use for pain meds in her practice 40%. Other methods she uses cuts another 30%. She has me on way less narcs then what my cardio and primary had me on. We are also working on ways for me to be able to step down. She also does random whiz quizs and blood testing to measure how much pain meds you have in your system. I trust her she did her Residency at Cedars Sinai got her M.D from USC. Out of my 9 specialist she is the only one who actually listens to me and puts the whole picture together she just doesn't look at one body part. I remember for my knee after surgery which I went to an Ortho for but he returned me back to her after he did the cutting for the rehab she had these little patches http://www.empi.com/empi_products/detail.aspx?id=170 that she used that helped with the pain without narcs.

So, everyone has a different view of PM. Mine have been very beneficial. Honestly, For me I think most docs are too full of themselves to refer out I remember it took me almost five years to get a cardio that will work with my HCM specialist (world renowned) because they said they didn't need anyone to direct my treatment as they were calling my condition something it hadn't been called in ten years! So, do your own research and take what all drs say with a grain of salt. If I've learned anything that was the best. Do your own research because the only person that truly pays the consequences if something goes wrong is you. Money will not make up for lost health. If you asked me which I'd rather have 1million and poor health or great health and dirt poor I'd go for that later. But, Alas I'm dirt poor and in poor health double whamy!
