Hello,
i just wanted to start a thread to say thank you, to you all for making such a good site and wiki.  I have just finished replacing the pads and brake lines on the front of my little old GS, i'll do the back end if it stops raining tonight, or tomorrow after work (dont worry i will use the car to get to work, i understand that it not a good idea to mix hh pads and steel lines on the front and stock (OLD) pads and rubber lines on the back).  the info and photos on this site and the wiki have make it SOOOO easy and helped with what to go shopping for.

So please keep up the good work it realy helps those of us who dont know what we are doing when it comes to bikes.  Rob :thumb:

why do you think it's not a good idea to mix old/stock pads in the back with powerfull brakes up front?

this is exactly what I have done - I replaced standard pads in front with HH pads and added SS lines while keeping the rear brake setup stock, and I love it.
most of the stopping power comes from the front anyways (about 70% front / 30% rear)

conclusion: I am not saying you're not right, but would like to know what may be the consequences of using stock rear brake with upgraded front  :dunno_white:

cheers

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about changing one set of brake pads just because you changed the other... So far I've changed the brakes on both of my bikes because they had been neglected and needed both sets of pads and rotors, but in the future I plan on just replacing stuff as it goes out of spec...
