The situation with Buddha&Josh makes me wonder.....

although i'm still pretty new here, and have only done a couple of transactions with folks here at the forum (got fairing from Werase, and sold
metisse sliders to Intergalactic- both transactions were smooth, no problems either way) , that perhaps sticking to Ebay with cross-references to Gstwin may keep similar occurances from happening here at this site. there are established mechanisms for resolving most problems thru ebay , and although there is a certain cost associated with ebay transactions it seems to me to be better than having members here at odds due to problems of these sorts, without any real recourse to reconcile those problems.
i may be just thinking out loud, and again, as a relative newbie, i may be out of line on this, but this incident and the associated hard feelings
that it evidently generated is the first real sign of non-friendly exchanges since i've been coming here.
seems a shame to let something like this alienate fellow GS fans.
just a thought.

The Buddha

I actually have been screwed by fleabay. I prefer this forum, savage forum as well.
Conversely, I have also bought broken crap on ebay that wasn't broken, so I had to buy another broken one, cos I needs a part form inside it.
Cool.

I've gotten quite a few things on here never had a prob. Actually, a few of the guys on here sent me stuff for absolutly free! No way will that happen on Ebay. BTW I've done the same. I really would hate to see that go away here. I mean if you got something you don't need give it to someone who needs and vice versa has worked well for me.

I got a few things laying around. Lets see two turn signals, stock foot pegs (still trying out the gsxr pegs so I'm gonna wait on that) and a bent clutch lever and brake lever with ball off. Things I'd never in good conscience sell to anyone but if someone needed something well it's theirs.

Big Shot

Buddha and Josh are both hacks.  Buddha is the more experienced hack which is good if your buying something.  He tries at least to refurbish items although the skill at which he does it with is questionable.  The biggest problem i see with him is he's just not the sharpest tool in the shed.  Compound that with the talking out of his ass his does daily, and he gets my recommendation of being avoided.

Josh is a baby Buddha.  A Buddha student.  Buddha 10 years back if you will.  His game is weak.  He sells the same crap but lacks the experience to refurbish the items or even the knowledge to know if they're good or not which means you should prolly avoid the things he sells at all costs.  In time he will become more educated/experienced and Buddha-esk, but do we really need more Buddha around here?

The biggest problem with the two of these guys is that they're trying to sell sh*t for profit on the forum.  If they can refurbish said sh*t properly, then i'm all for it.  And would even applaud their abilities seeing as i have a disdain for our culture of consumerism.  But they can't, and probably never will which makes them hacks trying to make a dishonest buck off the rest of us.  I find that to be offensive.

There can be only one - Bob!

fred

I've had nothing but good experiences with people on the board. I've bought plenty of things and they've all been as described, including things form Buddha that always arrived promptly. I've even crashed my bike with Buddha crash bars on it and seen them do exactly what they were designed to do. I've also received some free stuff, which just blows me away. One member even gave me his entire GS. I'm still working on it to get it running again, but still, no way I can argue with free.

All I want to know is you seem like you know what you are doing Bob. So lets see it.
What is it that you do so much better that any one here.
Do you fab. parts or recon. them ???
If so then post up some pics.
If not then maybe you need to just well in the words of THE ROCK .....No your role and shut your mouth.
So now it's that time, put up or shut up. Your call.
Oh and I am not trying to start a pissing match here and will prob. not even open this thread again so don't wast you time with an attack on me. I don't care. I just want to know why you are so good and others are so bad.

BaltimoreGS

I don't want to get sucked into an argument but as a newbie to this forum I can give you my experiences.  Buddha did some work on my carbs and I have no complaints.  I also got a great deal on an un-needed rotor from ineedanap.  I know it is only 2 transactions but both were positive. I think this forum is a great resource.  My 2 cents...

intergalactic

I just want to hear less of this. I think it didn't need to get aired out in the forums. Because it is hard to retract stuff said. So casting aspersion on another member should be a big deal.  So far, my transactions have been generally positive. My worst complaint would be stuff shipped a little slowly. Which isn't bad at all.

Any one that points out flaws in his own product that I probably would have missed is definitely not trying to rip someone off.  Buddha made sure I knew exactly what I was getting before we made any deals and was willing to show me thing on project bikes related to my GS for a good hour.  And even offered me a beer. +1 karma for that.

GI_JO_NATHAN

I think this whole thing is just a bi product of doing business. My wife works for a fortune five hundred company and is dealing with issues almost identical to this right now with one of her supplier. It sucks, but you can't make everyone happy all the time.

Agreed I have a degree in business management and administration, And like the old addage says "you can make an omelet without breaking a few eggs."  Some people may get pissed on, but that usually happens because of misunderstandings and miscommunications. As long as it doesn't happen 6 out of 10 times ( kinda dramatic). There is always cultural differences, language barriers, and other distractions, Then you throw on top of that the fact that most of your communication is over the internet, Not face to face, it really distorts things like it or not.  After all 80% of what is said is nonverbal. Personally, I have done business with Buddha and am currently doing business with him and even after reading all the bickering back and forth, I am still pretty confident in doing business with him.

Also I've done business with others here and on Fleebay, and If I could have gotten my stuff here I would have. I tend to get things cheaper here, and MOST of the people here are out to help each other. Thats why I like this forum so much, I've participated with other forums, and they don't nearly have the sense of community that the GS'ers have, Thanks everyone.
Current project:

The Buddha

My experience -
Dealt with over a few 100 by mail/PM and nearly all positive. In fact 2 people that stiffed me made good years later. I hope I did as good with everyone I dealt with. Many many I have met and dealt in person, medevac, cal76, mm75658, dgyver, starwalt, average, werase, lopee, davipu, goodguy, jared, and my friend in china grove whose handle I forget, many many many many more ... sorry for not remembering all ... I even met someone in houston (the 6 months I was there I met a gstwinner) ...
I also have bought GS'es only from gstwin ever since the gstwin was created in the form it is in now ... all 14 of them. Always excellent experiences.

Making stuff - I really dont make much of anything from design. Case guards - I checked suzuki's and made them but with a little thicker wall. Handle bars - Made it to fit an 90-00 and feel like the 89 clip on's. Jetting ... and get this ... I am revealing all my secrets here ... for 89-00 bike ... I got the formula from the ... horror of horrors - suzuki manual. Look under the section for canada ... and its not like its any secret either, I have crowed about it from the first time I found out. Everything I make (with the exception of the guage carriers - which BTW are not done yet) has been a copy of somehting with a improvement/twist. Kat stem machining too. I was explained verbally by dgyver, shown by werase, and I started playing with it. I found a guy who can thread them, and that completed my method.

My philosphy on used parts - Your bike is 10-15-20 years old. Lets say you rip a diaphragm. Or lose a float drain screw ... whatever ... hard parts non wear parts. Many people have 20 year old bikes that dont lose these, you lose them cos well, you were unlucky or you had a mishap, or due to unknown reasons. Really buying new in this case is really a waste of $. A good used part is going to work just fine, these dont wear. However an intake boot, O rings and some others parts, I always recomend buying new if you dont want to be doing it again in 3-6 months.

Re furbishing - Nope, dont do none of that, cosmetic only. Again check above. I do heads - fine that I'd give you.
All the wear in a properly designed bike is taken by bearings. All the sealing in a properly designed bike is done by rubber. Those cannot be swapped from bike to bike. The rest is no different - good used vs new except price. Some exceptions - like rotors, pads, etc etc etc ... dont take this too literally. Wear and tear parts are not included.

So simply put, josh has attained the buddha level as per big shot ... booya ... congrads joshr08.

I dont refurbish shocks, I test them before buying and then well ... I paint/powdercoat em.

I dont refurbish tanks. I rust treat them and well ... paint/powdercoat them.

I dont refurbish frames. I put bearings in them and ... well paint/powdercoat them.

See the common theme here ...

People argue all the time. All the damn time. Some in public, some in private ... some on the phone ... resolving that is the mark of character. Everyone I have dealt with and traded has shown good character. I just hope I have reciprocated it.

Just put some protocol/rules about shipping costs back and what not for parts that are bad etc etc and we should not have a problem. Y'all can decide and suggest to admins (I am going to stay out of that on the admin side).

Cool.
Buddha.
