Hey guys, first off: will either of these shocks fit the GS?  They're links to current eBay auctions:

Lindemann GSXR 1100 shock
Works Katana 1100 Shock

I'm pretty sure the GSXR 1100 shock will fit, because I remember Piper saying that it's virtually identical to the RF900 shock on his bike.  If you can, please let me know what you think, because it's seriously time for a new rear shock!

Well the stock Kat 1100 and GSXR 1100 will fit the GS...but 1100's fit 750's shocks...the 1100's items are pretty much reject pile crap...so at 50 and 75 they are sorta not worth it...

BUT... that 1100 shock was rebuilt by Lindeman at some point. I've worked with a LE shock before and it was nice.  Its probably been resprung and revavled.  But on the other hand it does look kinda rough, rust on the shock body and the adjusting collar looks ragged.
THe Kat shock is probably in better shape, but I've never been impressed with Works Per. stuff. It's usually not much better than OEM vavling and added feature wise (notice that shock has no comp. or rebound adjusters).

But for under $100 (so far) thats pretty cheap for a better shock.

E-mail the sellers & ask them to measure the center to center distance between the mounting eyes on the shocks before you commit.  The distance on the GS shock is 11-1/2 inches.  If either of these shocks is between 11-1/2 & 12 they should work OK.  It looks like maybe the Gixxer shock has adjustable length too, so maybe you could adjust it to the GS length.  They linkage ratio on the GS is about 2:1, so a shock that's 1/2 inch longer than stock will jack the back of the bike up about an inch.  This will affect handling by making the bike steer quicker.  It will be more willing to turn, but will also be a little more unstable & nervous.
As far as whether it's worth the trouble to substitute one of these shocks for what you've already got, there are others on this list who can answer better than me.
