Small nail in rear tire

I just noticed that my rear tire had a small nail about an inch away from the edge. I check and see no air leaks there, but I am afraid to the bike for a long trip.  Can someone help me to see what would be the solution to fix this problem without replacing a new tire.  I still have about 60% left on it.

Thanks

Remove the nail and have it patched.

Can they patch it while the tire is on the bike ? I am afraid that I would have to take the tire off the bike...

Nope. If you want to keep the tire on the rim and the bike, you may have to have it plugged...if you want them to plug it. Honestly, personally and professionally I would have it patched.

I posted this a while ago.  I should be a spokesman for this thing.
I picked up a screw at bout 3,500 miles. When I heard the price of a new rear tire and the labor to put it on I got pissed. I found this stuff called Ride On on the Internet. It stayed liquid and it worked. I ride in the winter and it never froze. I changed the tire at over 9,000 miles. I had confidence in this stuff and never gave it a second thought.
